- Math: Subtraction Quiz Tomorrow - Study guides are in folders please review those sheets. They are very similar to how the quiz will look tomorrow. To help with studying give students example problems as practice. I am only concerned that they know basic subtraction and regrouping concepts. 
- Reading: Read story Elijah McCoy's Steam Engine (pages 74-89) Complete page 2 of Pamphlet. Some students are choosing to bring readers home and others wish to look online. It was their choice. Passcodes are in assignment books.

- English: Review for Unit 1 Test Tomorrow!
TWO study guides are available and coming home tonight for extra review and practice. One review is found in notebooks and corresponds to pages 24 and 25 in textbooks! Really review pages 24 and 25 (It is very similar to how the test is set up tomorrow) - If students have a section circled they should REVIEW that section! 
Also there is a review in folders under study guides that corresponds to page 26 in textbooks. - We did that today in class. Review both of those guides and students should do very well on the test tomorrow! 
- Reading: Read for 15 minutes and complete ONE reading log entry. Logs are found in folders. 
** Reminders - Nativity Papers are due back as soon as possible

- English: We have been reviewing very hard all week with english. Tonight to help our review students are to look through workbook pages 7-16 and circle the lesson that they feel they are best at! - That will help us finalize our review and be ready for the test on Friday.

- Science: We are doing our first science test tomorrow. We really reviewed alot in class today. There are a few definitions that I want students to review a little extra tonight - Please do not stress about studying anything but these circled terms in their book. (investigation, microscope, graduated cylinder, temperature, chart, data table, and bar graph) The biggest challenge about third grade is learning how to properly study material. Students are getting it but it does take lots of practice. Please only review those eight terms. 


Tuesday: October 10, 2017: 
- Reading: Complete Worksheet Highlighted Sections - found in folders. "Essential Question" and "Text to Self". Students have books to use story if need be. 
- Math: We started Multiplication Drills today! We are currently focusing on the 1's. Students are to complete other side of math timed worksheet. We have three minutes to complete 50 problems. Really focus on that time. 
- Science: Our first science test is scheduled for Thursday. I do this together with the students. Science tests usually are very challenging so we take this first one as learning curve. We look at the questions we are being asked and I step them through how to study for these types of tests. That is what we will focus on and work on for Thursday.

*** Religion Test Note - I noticed today that students are not familar with how to take an open book test so we went through key things to look for and how to use the book to help answer the question. Tomorrow they are going to try the test on their own.

Wednesday: September 13, 2017: 
- Spelling: Write sentences for words 9-15 in spelling notebooks. Underline the word you use. Great work with the homework last night! I saw some really great sentences! Study! The test is Friday, Sept. 15th. 
- Social Studies:  We read and talked about communities today in social studies. Students are to draw a picture of a community. This is to be done in social studies notebooks. Label the title of the community and color it. 


Tuesday: September 12, 2017: 
- Spelling: Write sentences for words 1-8 in spelling notebooks. Underline the word you use.  Test is Friday Sept. 15th!
- English: Workbook page 5
** Rosary Permission Forms are due! 
** Books are due to be covered by Tomorrow! I will be checking.  
We just received the english books yesterday. I do not expect them to be covered, but students are bringing them home tonight. If you want them covered that is up to you. - Sorry for any inconvenience! 


Monday, September 11, 2017: 
- Spelling: Write words 3 times each in spelling notebooks. Words are found in spelling notebooks or under the spelling vocab tab under my name. Test is Friday. We usually also have vocab tests on the same day as spelling. We will be doing the first vocab test together so students get a feel with how they are set up. 
- Science: Go out and make observations about THREE things in nature. Write observations in science notebooks. Complete sentences! 
** Continue to get books covered - Due by Wednesday 9/13 ((There are six books that need to be covered. Three are large working textbooks (Religion, Math, and Science) and three are smaller workbooks (cursive, English, and Social Studies). Any color/type of contact paper works))
** Rosary Permission Slips - I am still missing a few! Please get those in! 
** Special Note From Mrs. Schock: She plans on taking the class outside for Gym tomorrow morning - It is getting chilly in the mornings so please wear Gym sweatshirt if you are someone who gets cold easily! 


Friday, September 8, 2017: Happy Weekend! 
- We got our first spelling words today for Unit 1 - The test is scheduled for next Friday. We will be doing much more work with them next week.  They are found under the spelling/vocab tab on the left and also in students notebooks that are being sent home today. 
-Continue to make sure all books are being covered - Books are expected to be covered by Wednesday Sept. 13th! 
- Rosary Field Trip Permission forms are due back as soon as possible! 

** Thank you for the awesome bags full of so many wonderful things about my students! I am so glad to learn so much about all of you! They were very well done!

Happy Second Day of School! 
1. Yellow Bag Bio - Continue working on yellow bags! They are due by Friday 9/8! 
2. Some students are starting to bring books home to be covered in contact paper. There are five books total to cover. Plan accordingly. If you want the rest of the books to be sent tomorrow please send me an email or have your child tell me tomorrow! If not, I will be sending two books home each night.  These books are due to be covered by 9/13. 
4. Remember 60th Anniversary Mass tomorrow! - Full uniform and no dress down passes can be used! 
** Side Note from the Library - We are in need of any parent volunteers to help with Library time on Wednesdays from 9:10 - 9:55! If you can help please contact Valerie in the library! 

Tuesday, September 5, 2017: 
 WELCOME BACK! We had a great day!! Homework won't officially begin until next week, but we have some things that need to be completed before then.
Parents -

1. Two forms are going home tonight with students (yellow emergency card and orange communications form). Please get these completed ASAP. . All other forms were sent electronically through powerschool. If you wish to order pretzels for tag days, that form was emailed and needs to be printed out and sent in with payment.
2. - POWER SCHOOL LOGIN INFORMATION is in White Envelopes in students folders! 
3. Starting Wednesday, 9/5 students will be bringing home books that need to be covered with contact paper. There are six books that need to be covered. Three are large working textbooks (Religion, Math, and Science) and three are smaller workbooks (cursive, English, and Social Studies). Any color/type of contact paper works. These books are just used frequently and need to be durable. These will be due by 9/13. Students may bring all books home on one night or take them home over the course of the week. It is their choice!
4. Students will also need ONE XL book sock for our Social Studies textbook. Students - Fill "Yellow Bag Bio" with three-five small items BY Friday 9/8! Students should decorate the bags and truly make them their own!
