SJB Physical Education Policies and Expectations 2020-2021
ECP, Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2
Uniform
Wear the official SJB Gym Uniform – SJB black shorts, and SJB gold or SJB grey shirt (provided by Rush Uniform).
Winter Uniform - SJB black sweatpants and SJB crew style sweat shirt (provided by Rush Uniform).
No hoodies or leggings
All ECP Students and any NEW Students in Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2 -
FirstName must clearly appear on front of the shirt and the sweat shirt.
ALL Students - Last name must clearly appear on tag of sweat shirt.
Students will only be able to remove their sweat shirt during PE class if their name is on it.
Students will not be able to remove sweat pants during Physical Education class.
Wear white socks.
Wear all black securely fastened sneakers.
Parents - please make sure that your child's shoes are tied in double knots before they leave for school in the morning. Lots of PE time is lost tying shoes.
Necklaces, bracelets, and rings can be hazardous during
physical activity and are prohibited during
PE classes. pe classes will follow the school policy as it pertains to earrings. If an activity is planned where stud earrings will be hazardous, a note will be placed on the PE web page.
Long hair must be pulled back and out of the face.
Medical Excuse
A child who is not feeling well or has an injury (short-term or prolonged) should still report to PE class. Activities can be modified.
A prolonged illness or injury needs a doctor's note to be excused from PE class and to return to class.
If a note is given to the nurse and/or the PE teacher excusing the student from PE class, then a separate note must be given to the PE teacher when the student is able to return to PE class.
Classroom Procedures
Class will enter the gym quietly and stand in proper squads.
Warm-up to include jogging and other appropriate exercises.
Main activity will be age appropriate with opportunities for participation by all skill levels.
Class will exit together, quietly with a teacher.
Respect, Responsibility and Reverence
Students are expected to respect each other and each other's space.
Students are responsible for his/her behavior and expected to practice self-control.
Students are expected to participate in a safe and caring manner.
Grades (Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2)
Grades are recorded each trimester and reflect the student's participation, conduct, uniform, and effort.
Grades are recorded using a Specials Grade Scale (P, G, S, etc.) plus conduct and effort.
Parents will be contacted with any student concerns.
