WHat a FUN Friday! The students were so excited about the day. They came in all cozy and ready to have FUN! A BIG thank you to all my parents that sent in a special treat for bringing our Winter theme to a close. Mrs. Newcomb sent in some of the yummiest donuts ever!!!! I never saw the kids eat something so fast!!!!
A reminder we are off Monday. We will be together again Tuesday January 19. Have a wonderful weekend!

What a terrific Thursday. The energy was alive and well in EC4B! We were ready to learn! Today we played a game with our last names. The students had to look at the names and call out their last name when they saw it. For the first week identifying their last name they are doing great. If you have a minute in the car talk to your child about their last name. It really is a new concept for them!!!
Today we continued our Winter Theme reading a story about Snowmen; Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner. What a great way to encourage a child to use their imagination. After the story the students had a snowman craft where they built a snowman and added snow. We even had a chance to use cotton balls and chalk to create snow!!!!
Today your child's rest towel and sheet are being sent home. Please send them back Tuesday when we return to school. Tomorrow the students will have a special treat; Hot Chocolate and a donut. If your child would like another snack feel free to send one in. Students that are staying for Eagles Club will need to pack a lunch. Students that are car riders will be dismissed at 11:30.
Also, the kids are so excited as tommorrow is a Dress Down Day for EC4B. The students may wear cozy winter clothes; pjs, sweats, sweatshirts andything goes!!!!
Have a wonderful night

What a wonderful Wednesday. The students are back on track and ready to learn more about winter and winter animals. It is amazing how they have this love for learning. They are taking the information I provide them and running with it.
This morning we reviewed our last names. They are doing a great job looking at the letters in their last name and understanding it just like their first name. Every child had the opportunity to say their last name and then identify the letter that starts their last name. For example I would say Albert, A. They are doing great with this.
During Calendar the students really took ownership of the skills we review. Singing the days of the week song and the months of the year song was all them. They all participated and sang their little hearts out. Today we counted to 76. That is a BIG number but we are strong and got through it!!! They were so proud of themselves. As we were reviewing the weather today a student counted the pictures. They let me know 2+2=4. I explained to them that is a double. When you add teh same number together it is a double. Needless to say the class began to come up with a bunch of double examples; 5+5=10, 6+6=12. It was so fun to watch come up with these problems. They loved every minute of it!
Today I read the story The Mitten to the students. This is one of my favorite books by Jan Brett. As I read the story the students would color the animal and glue it in the mitten. This was a great way to teach sequencing. Today we also did a mitten graph. I would select a mitten and we would graph it on the bar graph. They did great with this!!!! After we completed the bar graph we were able to use our words to compare mittens.
It was a BUSY day! We love to stay busy.

What a terrific Tuesday. I know day two is not always easy retrning to school after a long break. I have to say the students are doing such a great job. As parents you are all doing wonderful getting your child to school and encouraging them. Once they are in the classroom they are ready to go and eager to do our daily activities. If your morning are difficult right now; hang in there! It will pass I promise.
Today we really kicked off our Winter Theme with Penguins. The students had an opportunity to learn about blubber and how it help penguins and other animals survive in the cold, cold temperatures. They students had a chance to use blubber to touch a ice pack. When you touch the ice pack with your bare hand you can really feel the cold! When you put blubber(crisco) between their hand and ice pack the students couldn't feel the cold! The students thought it was so neat!!!
The students also learned about the oil that penguins have on their feathers. The oil lets the cold water just bubble up and slide right off the feathers. Unlike our hair that absorbs the water the oil just bubbles up and send the water right off the penguin. The students were able to color a penguin and paint on a coat of vaseline. This acted as the oil. When we sprayed water on the penguin the students were able to see the water bubbles. It was so neat!!!
The students also had a chance to make a penguin craft. The students had to cut, build and glue the penguin together. They are so cute!!!
A few reminders. Friday will be a half day. Snack we will have hot chocolate and a donut. If your child would like a different snack please send that in. If your child is staying for Eagles Club please send in a lunch. Friday students are also allowed to dress down and wear cozy winter clothes.
Thursday I will send home sheets and towels to be washed.
Monday there will be no school.
I know lots of information. Thank you for staying with me and keeping all the information in order.
Have a wonderful night!

Welcome back!!! It was so wonderful to see all my friends! They came into the classroom ready to go. I think we were all so excited to be together again. It felt like we were complete again.
We started our morning unpacking and organizing all of our materials. I have to say THANK YOU for keeping everything together and returning all school materials back to school. It really made my life easy as a teacher to unpack 21 4/5 year olds. The students were even able to use all their materials to complete their morning work.
Today the students reviewed a few health points. I spoke to them about those silly things called germs. The germs would love to hang in our classroom because it is warm and cozy inside. So to keep the germs away from us we are going to follow a few health guidelines. We are going to remember to keep our masks over our nose. Our hands are going to stay clean and away from our face. I showed the kids how we wash our hands. One of our friends had a chance to model for the class. We really loved seeing all those bubbles on our hands. If you can review health safety at home that would be terrific. I really have a class eager to stay healthy. My goal is to keep our classroom safe and healthy. Continue to support keeping the classroom healthy. If your child isn't feeling good and showing signs of illness give them a day to recoup. Together we can keep the classroom safe!
Today the students were introduced to their last name. Currently the students are working on identifying their last name and saying their last name. They did a great job with that today. In a few weeks the students will begin to write their last name (if they are still working on their first name that is ok.) As a teacher I am at that point in the year where I work on skills that are important for each individual child. It really is my favorite part of year!
This week we are working on the letter Ww. The students will learn to write the letter Ww, learn what the letter W says and words that start with the letter W. The theme will be winter. The students will do a number of winter activities. Friday we will end with a Winter activity having Hot Chocolate. A big thank you for those families that are sending in a special treat. It will be a GREAT way to end our Winter week.
Have a wonderful evening!

It was so great to end with a FUN FRIDAY! A BIG Thank You all my parents and grandparents for making the week so successful. The students had a great time, worked hard and are ready to return to the classroom! I really am so proud of each child, they really stepped up to the challenge.
As you prepare for Monday help your child make that transition back to school Monday morning.
Try to prepare your child Sunday; have them help you pack their bags, get their uniforms ready, pick their snack out and get to bed early. Remember to send your child in with their remote learning bag (all school items in it), a coat, hat, gloves, rest towels/sheets and snack/lunch. Take deep breathes and remember we are all in this together. If you have any concerns feel free to reach out to me!
Have a wonderful weekend! I will see everyone Monday morning!

Another terrific Thursday. The students did such a GREAT job making their lttle aliens. I really can't wait to hang the crafts up on the bulletin board. I know the students are so proud of how hard they all worked.
If your child did not complete the identify J page bubble sheet with me they may work on that independently.
Tomorrow we are going to end with FUN Friday. The students are going to have a chance to play BINGO. I know it has been a long and demading week for them all. We will sign in, listen to our phonics song and then play BINGO. It will be a great way to bring the week to a close.
Next Monda January 11th we will be returning to school in person! Remember as you prepare the children have not left your side for the past three weeks. Your morning may not run as smooth as you would like. Try to prepare your child Sunday; have them help you pack their bags, get their uniforms ready, pick their snack out and get to bed early. Take deep breathes and remember we are all in this together. If you have any concerns feel free to reach out to me!
Thank you again for all your support.

What a WONDERFUL Wednesday! It was so great to see so many of my friends still eager to learn and have fun. I know the excitement is wearing off and the kids would rather watch a show and relax, but they are really pushing through and doing a terrific job!!! Two more days and then we will all be together again in person!!! I can't wait.
Having the materials out on the desk today made things so much easier. So a big Thank You for helping me with that. Tomorrow is you could have the pencil case, crayon box, red sign in book and alien craft out that would be terrific!!!
I thank you all for making this a successful week.
Mrs. Albert
January 5
What a TERRIFIC Tuesday! We were BUSY!!!! Aren't the kids amazing!!! They hung in their cutting lots of pieces, gluing the parts together, going in and out of their bag and keeping everything organized. It really took a viallge and pateince to help the students be successful. They really did a GREAT job!
A few notes:
Please make sure all materials stay in your child's bag and are ready to come back to school with them. (papers and crafts we finish are returned January 11)
If you can have these materials on your child's desk in the morning this will help get the activities started: Pencil case, crayon box, red sign in book and the craft for the day.
I thank you for all your support and encouragement during these different times. I am so excited for next Monday!!!!
Have a wonderful night!!!

A BIG thank you to all of my families for making our day one Remote Learning a succes!!! The students did AMAZING!!!! They really had a busy morning with the addition of music class. Tomorrow will not be as much since I will only be teaching the students in the morning. I don't want to keep them on the screen for such a long time but today I just went with it because they so excited to be back!
Tomorrow we will use the same Zoom link. I will have my 9, 10 and 11am sessions as scheduled. If you are chnging your schedule please email me so I can keep track of the students.
Again, thank you for all your support. I hope today you had a little glimpse of what we do at school. I am so proud of ALL my students. They did AMAZING!!!

Welcome Back! I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas with their families and brought the New Year in with Cheer. I know it was a very different holiday for many of us but I hope we can all reemember the special moments you had with the children. I have a feeling they are going to have MANY memories to share with me. I can't wait to hear their sweet voices and the stories they will have.
Well it is time to start the year back up. We will ease our way back by starting with Remote Learning. This may be easy for some of my friends and a struggle for others. I am going to remind you of a few things that may help your child join Zoom sessions.
1. Select a time that works for you and your child. If you need to switch your time last minute that is OK!
2. Have your child's work area set up before zoom session starts. Your child should have their remote learning bag, pencil case and crayon box. Make this area feel exciting for your child! Sunday night let your child help you prepare it!
3. Students should eat before or after our session. Please no eating during our lessons. Have your child use the potty before the lesson.
4. If a child is hesitant allow them to bring a safety toy/doll to the session. If your child does not want their face on the screen no worries (you can turn video off or just turn the computer to the side focused on a wall).
5. Nothing has to be perfect!!! I will direct and teach your child. Some will be with me others may be a step behind. Trust me they will all get to where they need to be at the end of my lesson.
6. If your child is unable to attend a session they may complete the days work at home. All assignemnets are under the Remote Learning Tab.
7. Any work that is not completed please keep in your child's bag.
8. Any work that we complete during our sessions (including crafts/baggies) place back in bag and return to school January 11.
As a teacher I will be adjusting my lessons based on my students needs. I am aware this is a different type of learning for my 4 year old students. Please, as parents remove any stress of concern this week may bring upon you. We will do the best we can. I have great faith that we are going to have a TERRIFIC week beacuse we are a SPECIAL class!
If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me.
I can't wait to see everyone Monday morning!

A BIG thank you for taking the time last night to take zoom with me. I hope it was helpful for you. I did listen to your concerns and I am adding to my schedule options. I am also adding a 11:00 zoom session. Hopefully this will help with getting your older kids started in the morning and then when they are having lunch you can get your four year old on. I am also adding an afternoon session with Mrs. Koval. This will be a 20-30 minute session. The time will be determined soon. So it is nice that you have a number of different options. I hope something will work for you.
Today I am sending home rest towels. I have a feeling we will be back in school but I would rather be prepared than not. I decided they will stay home until January. If we are in tomorrow I will do something fun during rest!
Today we celebrated the JOY of Christmas talking about Santa. We read a book, sang a song and even turned into santa. It was another FUN day! At one point I was able to call Santa to ask a few questions the students had! They were amazed I had a direct line. Santa told the class how proud he was of each child; somehow he knew we had a special class! At onen point he started telling me about each child calling them by name! It truly was a magical moment for the students.
As if things couldn't get better it did! Mrs. Donovan and I were surpised with the kindest and most thoughtful gift from the class. As we told the students they are truly the BEST gift we could have ever asked for. We love them all and are so blessed to have them in our lives. Your generous gift was too kind. Thank you for your love and generosity. We truly are two VERY LUCKY teachers!!!
THEN!!!! I looked out the window and saw SNOW!!! If you know me I take every opportunity I can to bring JOY and FUN to your child's life. So we bundled up and went outside for our "First Snow Class Picture." The students had a chance to run around and even catch a snowflake on their tongues. I heard a child scream "this is the best day ever!" It was a lot of fun!!!
Remember to throw some ice in the toilet tonight, a white crayon in the freezer and wear your PJs inside out. Maybe we can keep the snow coming!!!!
Tomorrow students are allowed to wear their PJs to school. Please make sure the students are wearing shoes ready for safe play and will be warm enough if we go outside(not sure if we will go out as it may be really too cold). Also, there will be Chick Fil A for those who ordered. If your child did not order please send in a lunch. Also, your child will need a snack even if they ordered Chick Fil A.
Lastly, there is a special treat bag in your child's backpack from Sloane J. Thank you Sloane for the sweet treat!!!

A little video from Recess. Enjoying the signs of Winter.

Today we continued to prepare for Christmas. The students were able to make a reindeer using their hands as the antlers. The students also had a chance to make reindeer food. This will help the reindeer and Santa find your house. Your child can sprinkle the reindeer food outside Christmas Eve. This is always a special activity for the students! I hope you enjoy it!
Now for some IMPORTANT information. Today your child will be bringing home their work bag that has all of their school supplies. These items will be used for Remote Learning January 4th. Please place this bag in a safe place until then. All items that are in the bag are for school use. If your child looses an item I do not have replacements. I only have a class set. I really need your help with this because I know the kids are going to be excited to have these items at home. Please wait to do school activities until January 4th. If your child does not do the activities just keep everything in the bag and return to school January 11th.
Tonight I will be holding a Parent Zoom meeting at 7pm. This will be quick; about 30 minutes. I will take the time to explain the resources sent home and the plan for the Remote Week. If you have questions please bring them with you. Hopefully I can answer them all and we can leave feeling GREAT about our situation.
From the sound of it the weather may be tricky tomorrow. For those parents new to SJB if the weather is not safe for afternoon travel the school will send out a message about what will happen; such as an early dismissal. The message will provide you with the time you will need to pick your child up. In the event school is closed for the day a Phone Call be sent to you either the night before or early morning. If we are home your child is encouraged to enjoy the snow!!!!
Lots of unknowns continue during the 2020 year. Howver, we are prepared and ready what is thrown at us. Thank you for your support and flexibilty. I hope to see many of you tonight. If you did not get the email last night with the zoom link please email and I can get it to you!

Welcome to C week. The theme for the week will be Christmas. We will continue to learn about the season of Advent as we prepare for Baby Jesus. We now light three candles on our Advent Wreathe. Two purple and one pink. The students love when we turn the light on the pink one! The excitement is real as we get closer to Christmas Day. In EC4B we continue to build on that Joy and Excitment for the kids. It truly is a magical time for them.
Today the students were busy with a two special morning. They had Spanish and Music. The teachers love teaching the students as they are so respectful and such great listeners! Way to go boys and girls.
After lunch we had a guest reader for Maddy's birthday. It was her Aunt! The students loved having another guest visit our classroom. If you would like to read sometime thsi week email me and we can see if we can fit you in! I am trying to be very flexible as I am never sure what the next day looks like for us.
In the afternoon the students completed their C page in their Handwriting Without Tears books. C is such an important letter to learn how to write. So many letters we write start with writing the c first. For example, G, lower case a, d, g,q, o and even s.
This is going to be a busy week as we prepare for our Christmas Break. Here are a few things to remember:
Thursday: Students will have breakfast treat thanks to Aine.
Students may wear their PJ's to school. Please make sure they are warm enough for outside play and students have shoes ready for outdoor play(sneakers)
Send in a morning Snack for your child
Chick Fil a Lunch for those who ordered. Pack a lunch if you did not order through SmartTuition
Students will bring home Activity Bag for Remote Learning. Please place in a safe place for Jaunary 4th
Friday: Students may wear Christmas Colors, hats, bells.
You do NOT need to send in a snack. You DO need to send in LUNCH.
Students will have a morning snack celebration.
Lastly, I will be holding a ZOOM metting tomorrow night to touch base with you to share the remote learning plan. I will show you the material your child will use at home, how it is organized and the schedule. By no means should you be concerned or nervous! I hope that this meeting can ease your mind and help you realize the week is going to meet the needs of your individual child!!! That may look very different for many of my students. I am OK with that!!!!
I will email the zoom information to you.
Thank you for your support and encouragement during these times.

What a MAGICAL Friday! The students looked amazing in their Red, Green, Dresses, Character Shirts, and Star Wars costumes. The energy in the room was electric! We were ready to go to Disney.
We started the morning at the Disney Parade. The students were so excited as they saw the Disney Characters!!! You would have thought we were on the streets of Disney. After Spanish the students had a chance to go on a few Disney Rides. Yes, we went on Frozen, Seven Dwarfs, Slinky Dog Dash, Buzz and even It's a Small Ride.
We ended the day with a little special popcorn snack and the Disney Fireworks! They were beautiful!!!
Thank you for supporting this FUN day. It was so worth the morning dress up and specail hair you all spent time on!!!
Have a wonderful weekend.

What a terrific Thursday. Not sure how it is Thursday already but it is! We have been so busy and having fun that it seems time just flies by in EC4B.
This morning the students started their morning with a B activity. They had to color, cut and glue. This is a morning work activty. The students do this independently each morning. I love to watch the students think about what they have to do and turn to their problem solving skills to complete the activity. You will notice by their work if they took their time or just rushed through the activity. As they get a little older and stronger you will see so much progress in their work. I have to say as their teacher I am so proud of how all the students are doing independently. Way to go boys and girls!
Today we continued with our Baby Jesus theme. The students are so eager to learn about the story of Baby Jesus. The students are so excited to learn about this story. Today a student raised their hand and asked how long the journey took for Mary? I said I wasn't too sure let's research. So we found out it was 80miles. That is like going to the beach for us but Mary and Joeseph had to walk. We are still researching how many days it took. It seems that it took 9-10 days. That is a pretty long trip!
After we listened to the story about Christmas the students completed a Baby Jesus and Mary craft. The students really had to listen to directions to complete the craft. They did a fabulous job. I love how they turned out!!!
A reminder tomorrow is a half day. If your child is not staying for Eagles Club the pick up will be at 11:30 Everyone will need a morning snack. Eagles Club kids will need a lunch and an afternoon snack.
EC4B students are allowed to wear their Disney clothes tomorrow! It is going to be such a FUN day!!! If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
If you would like your child to have Chick Fil A December 17 please go to SMARTTUITION and place your order. If you do not do this I am unable to help you. If you have any questions feel free to email me. All orders should be completed by Sunday.

Wonderful Wednesday! Today we continued with our theme of Baby Jesus. We reviewed the story of the birth of Baby Jesus. I have to say my heart is filled with JOY when my students recall the important events to the story. One of my friends shared with me that they watched the Star movie last night because he was so interested in what we are learning in the classroom. Another student shared that she has a Christmas book at home. It is so neat to see that the students are carrying their learning from to school to home!!!
Today we discussed how Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem. There were no cars, no trucks, no trains. They selected a very strong donkey to help them on the travels. The donkey was so honored to be selected. He was excited to help Mary, mother of baby Jesus. The students had an opportunity to color a picture of the donkey and then we made a donkey craft. The students had to cut, glue and color to make their donkey. They turned out GREAT!
In the afternoon we worked in our religion book. The students read a story about preparing for Christmas. Advent is such a special time. The students are eally learning the true meaning of Advent.
A reminder Friday is going to be a special day for our class. We will be going to a Disney Virtual field trip. Students are allowed to dress up in their Disney clothes or colors. It is going to be a day to remember!
Also, Friday is a half day. Students will be dismissed at 11:30. All students need a morning snack. Eagles Club students pack a morning snack, lunch and an afternoon snack.

What a terrific Tuesday! It was so nice to have Mrs. Donovan back. It was like our family was complete again!
Today we continued with our Baby Jesus theme. The students are learning a new song "Oh What a Night." They are loving it and having so much fun learning the words. The students also heard the story about Baby Jesus. We will continue to learn about the story and hopefully pull off our very own play. The kids can't wait! For our craft the students followed directions to complete their own nativity picture. The kids had to color, glue and build their own manger. They turned out fabulous! Way to go boys and girls.
In the afternoon we worked on our Scholastic Magazine. The students read about Holiday Cooking. Yum! They are doing a great job with their reading skills. They were also able to make lots of connections to real life experiences! That's what good readers do.
The students also worked on their Handwriting Without Tears Book. The students are working on writing the letter B. Such a GREAT job!
Lastly, we had a big surprise from Savannah's Pop Pop! He stopped in with his Santa hat to read us a wonderful Christmas story. The students loved having you in our class.
Friday will be a half day. Every child will need a morning snack. If your child is staying for Eagles Club please pack a lunch and afternoon snack too!
Friday students are also allowed to dress in their Disney costumes, colors anything that works for you. A reminder we will be going outside for recess so please make sure they are dressed for the weather... shoes too!
Have a wonderful night-

What a FUN morning! The students were greeted to a classroom filled with JOY! It seems St. Nick visited our classroom last night. The stockings we left for St. Nick were replaced with a special treat stocking. We were so excited. After morning work we noticed a note and present on the stool. St Nick left us a note and present!!! He knew we are so smart. St. Nick gave every students a whiteboard to use their markers on. Of course we had to try them out! What a terrific way to start our morning! Thank you St. Nick!!!
Video for You!
https://spark.adobe.com/video/dEkFO8fI7Ss84
Throughout the day we learned about St. Nick, completed a St. Nick Craft and St. Nick coloring page. The students did a GREAT job.

The students have been working so hard all week preparing a special performance for you all. I can tell you that they did not disappoint! They did such a GREAT job. I hope everyone had a chance to watch the magical day we had with the Gingerbread Man. The students were still talking about the silly guy this morning. So fun to be young and full of Joy!
This morning we continued with our Guardian Angel theme. The students started with sharing their knowledge of what a Guardian Angel is. The students are doing wonderful with the concept that God and our Guardian Angel are there to listen to us and protect us. Of course we had to practice a few songs that will be performed tomorrow to end our G week. They are doing so GREAT with the songs!!! After practicing our songs the students had a chance to complete a Guardian Angel Craft. These are coming home today. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
During calendar we are learning so much. As a class we have been counting. Today we went all the way to 56! By the rime we reach 56 we are ready for a rest! However, we don't stop. The students also count to 100 by 10's! We add jumping jacks as we count by 10's. This is always fun and a big success! The students are also doing a wonderful job using math vocabulary when we looking at our feelings and weather graphs. Students are comparing results; more than, less than, counting numbers, first, second, third, fourth and last. This is so exciting!
In the afternoon we continued to work on Handwriting Without Tear. The students reviewed writing their numbers. I have to say they are doing so GREAT with their writing. I hope you get a chance to see all their growth. It is so exciting!!!!
Tomorrow is going to be another big day. We have something exciting planned. Please remember to send in dad's dress shirt (white, or a light color) I will send it home with your child at the end of the day. Also, if you have a gift for Adopt a Family please send in tomorrow. I thank you for all your genorosity! This is going to be one happy family!!!

December 2
Well the day was an EXCITING one! We couldn't believe it as there was a knock on our classroom door and a note flew under the door. It was the Gingerbread Boy! That's right he came to school to play with us. He led us on one BIG scavenger hunt. We were trying so hard to catch him. Many times we were so close! Some students thought they smelled the scent of cinnamon, others thought they heard him say hahaha, and some friends even had the chance to get a glimpse of him. It was so funny to go all around campus chasing the gingerbread boy. At the end he sent us back to our room. There he left us a final note. He told us his mom had to pick him up early. So he left us a treat; rice krispy treat and chocolate kisses. The treats are in your child's lunch box.
I am currently working on a video for you all. I really want you to see the faces and imagination your kids have during these fun adventures! It really was a day to remember!!!
A reminder Friday Adopt a Family gifts are due. I am also asking that you send in dads dress shirt(white or a light color for a little performance we will be doing). Thank you for all yoru support with all my big ideas! I can tell you the kids love it all!!!

December 1
What a terrific Tuesday! The sun was out and we were filled with JOY! The students came in ready to share about their December stories. We are excited it is December and a step closer to Christmas!
The students started the morning identifying the letter Gg. They did a wonderful job. We noticed that the capital G and lower case g do not look alike. Now that we are comfortable with these activities I encourage the students to do their best work. I notice some of my friends rushing through their work. I always remind them that the activities are not a race. We want to be proud of our work. I will begin to work on their time management during the second trimester. Staying on task and completing activities with the class will be important as we prepare for kindergarten.
Today we learned about our Guardian Angle. We listened to a short story about how God selected a Guardian Angel that watches out for each of us. This is so special. To think we can pray to a guardian angle and they will protect and keep us safe is very special. I have to say this is a very special class. They love to hear that God, our angles and animals/family members will always be with us no matter where they are! We use prayer to talk to those that are not with us. During our craft activity the students had a chance to complete their very own guardian angle. They turned out so beautiful! After our craft we continued to practice a few Guardian Angel Songs. They are doing such a GREAT job learning the words.
In the afternoon we worked on our writing. The students were able to use their chalkboards to write their letter G. They are doing such a great job with this. In their handwtriting without tears book they worked on writing their numbers. Keep up the terrific work!!!
A big thank you for all that have sent in the items for our Adopt a Family. The SJB community is so giving! Just a reminder all gifts will need to be sent in by this Friday December 4.
Have a wonderful evening! I think tomorrow is going to be an exciting day for the kids! I think I have a surprise in store for them!

November 30
Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving break. It really was a beautuful few days to be with the family. As I reflected on the things that I am Thankful for I included my students and families on my list. I truly thank God everyday for you all and wouldn't want to be on this journey with anyone else. Yesterday was the first Sunday of Advent. The students should have placed a flame on one of their purple candles. The students are going to learn that we are preparing for the birth of Jesus. What a special time in our Church!
This is going to be a busy week filled with learning and tons of fun! The letter for the week will be the letter Gg. The theme will be Giving/Guardian Angel and Gingerbreadman. I have been planning activities that will excite the kids for sure!!!!
Today I introduced Our Guardian Angel. Every person has a special Angel that watches out just for them! Sometimes we can even have more than one angel. Our Guardian Angel protects us. The students learned the Guardian Angel Prayer. This is a prayer that students are asked to know by 1st grade. We are off to a great start.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptZyX6yeIvE&list=PLm7YmKeAg_3SyCMZy8K5VzCsFkiNkTc6o&index=8
After we learned about our Guardian Angel the students had a chance to make their own guardian angel. They turned out so sweet!
In the afternoon we worked on writing the letter G. The letter G can be tricky but if they remember to write that letter C first it will be easy! We will continue to write the letter G all week. The students also learned the sound the letter G makes and words that start with the letter G.
I am asking that this Friday you send in a dress shirt of dads: white or any light color. We will be bringing our week to a close with a surprise video for you. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
November 18th we will have our class Christmas Celebration. Above I have attached a sign up genius. I am trying to make things a little different each celebration but with the restrictions set on me it makes it hard. If you have any ideas feel free to email me and we can see if we can make it happen.
Welcome back! Looking forward to a great week.

November 20
What a FUN FRIDAY! The day was filled with so much fun from start to finish. This Thanksgiving Feast looked a little different this year BUT I have to say it was one of my FAVORITES!!! I will be sending a video tonight to let you all feel the excitement, joy and thanks that filled EC4B.
During lunch Luke's dad surprised us as a guest reader. It was so much fun to have him join our class for lunch! Thank you for taking the time to read to us!!!
A big thank you to all that sent in special items for the celebration. There are two special treat bags in your child's backpack. Please unpack and let your child enjoy!
A reminder teh students will have vacation all next week. The students will return November 30. I can't wait to see them.
Have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving.
Mrs. Albert
November 19
The students looked so GREAT today in their Thanksgiving colors. It's amazing how a little change can excite the students. When we signed in we had so MANY excited students. So FUN! During morning tray work the students worked hard on signing in. What a terrific job they are doing!!! It was so nice because I was able to walk around and help students one on one. I really love this part of teaching!!! The students love that one on one attention too!
Today we worked on a little Thanksgiving suprise. The students were so excited to pull the surprise together and send it out tomorrow to their parents.
We also worked on a little Indian boy and his canoe. They turned out so cute!
Tomorrow will be our Thanksgiving Celebration. Please send your child in their normal uniform.
Tomrrow the students will have a Thabksgiving snack. Please make sure you send a lunch in with your child.
Have a wonderful night-

November 18
What a wonderful Wednesday. The students walked in with their listening ears and were so ready to be star students. I had so many moments when I looked at the students and said I am so PROUD of you! Students are showing such growth socially, emotionally and academically. Please take a moment at the handwriting paper in your child's folder. We are working on correct letter formation as well as starting and the blue line and touching the red line. The middle dotted line helps us know where to start our lower case letters. Way to go boys and girls!!!!
Today we started to learn some Thanksgiving songs. So far the Mayflower song is our favorite! So since we know so much about the Mayflower we did a Mayflower craft. You will begin to notice that your child is responsible for the entire craft: cutting all the pieces, gluing them in the correct spot and coloring. This group is so capable and I love to encourage them to do their best. I love how the crafts turned out! I hope you love them too!
After lunch we had religion. We focused on the sign of the cross. The cross is a sign that God loves us. We discussed how sometime we make mistakes and may need to say sorry. We agreed we all make mistakes even adults! When we say sorry the other person can forgive. Sometimes we can even pray to God and say sorry. God loves us all and is happy to forgive us!!! The students had a chance to make a cross necklace. On the necklace are the steps of the sign of the cross. The students are doing great. Finding the correct hand, and the shoulder steps are the hardest. Please practice the sign of the cross at home. They will get it!!!
Tomorrow students are allowed to dress down in Thanksgiving colors. Can't wait to see the kids in dress down clothes.
A reminder Friday will be our Thanksgiving celebration. Thank you for those who sent in treats. The students will have a GREAT day!
Mrs. Albert
November 17
Terrific Tuesday! It has busy in EC4B preparing for Thanksgiving. Today the students began to learn about the first Thanksgiving. With this class I can really dig deep and explain why and how things happen. The students learned that there was a King that didn't want the people to have freedoms to pray to their God. So the people that we know as the pilgrims decided they would sail across the ocean in a BIG BIG boat called the Mayflower. When they hit land it was not easy for them. They had no stores, no heat and no food. The winter was very rough. They would pray to God everyday. One day an indian named Squanto came and asked if he could help them. To say Thank You the pilgrims decided to have a big feast and invite the Indians. This is now known as the first Thanksgiving.
The students worked on their Thanksgiving Turkey Head pieces today. They had to follow directions in order to complete the craft. The most important thing about completing crafts and following the direcions is not just using the ears to listen but also their eyes to watch me. We are working hard on that skill.
In the afternoon we read our Scholastic Magazines about Chipmunks and Acorns. The students are doing such a great job with their pre-reading skills. I hope you will have a chance to look over the magazine with your child. It will be sent home tomorrow.
In your child's folder is an Advent wreathe, four yellow flames and an Advent Page from their religion book. I am sending these hoem early because the first Sunday of Advent will be November 29 (we will be on our Thanksgiving break) All you need to do is move the candles to a standing position. Each Sunday leading up to Christmas your child will cut out a flame and glue it on the candle. (11/29, 12/6, 12/13, 12/20) After Thanksgiving I will go into more detail about the meaning of Christmas and who we are preparing for.
A reminder Thursday students may dress down and wear Thanksgiving colors.
Have a wonderful night-
Mrs. Albert
November 16
Happy Monday! The students walked into the classroom with a little surprise. Tables were moved. I thought it was a good time for the kids to see the room from a different view. They were so excited and found their chair and table quickly. It is nice as a teacher to also have the students in different areas to see how they work and listen.
This week the students are introduced to the letter Tt. We learned how to write the letter T and what the letter T sound is. I hope you have a minute to hear your child explain to you how to write the letter T. They are doing such terrific job using their words!!! I was so proud of each child. We were able to complete our T page in our Handwriting Without Tears book. At this point I am looking for the students to follow directions. This is important as we prepare for Kindergarten. There is a time when we can do what we want and there is a time when we do what the teacher is asking. The kids really do a pretty good job with this already!
During recess we began to prepare for our Thanksgiving celebration. The students had an opportunity to dye their shirts using natural resources. They had a great time. I can't wait to see them all ready for the celebration.
Above I have posted a sign up genius for Christmas Adopt a Family. If you would like to send an item in feel free to sign up. This is one of my favorite events. The kids really learn the meaning of helping others. This year we are asking that you wrap the present and attach a label letting me know who the present is for. Thank you for your generosity.

November 13
Fun Friday was filled with tons of energy today! The students were so excited. We had to have a few deep breathe and calm our body moments. The great thing is when we reset as a class it works! They are so good!
Today we brought our My Plate theme to a close. The students really learned a lot about healthy eating and keeping their body strong. The students finished theri My Plate posters today. It was so neat to see how the students were able to identify their favorite fruit, vegeatble, sweet, dairy, grain and protein on their own! At the beginning of the week we really weren't sure about the differences. I hope they continue to try new foods for you.
In the afternoon we worked on identifying M pictures and then cutting them out. They were able to glue all the M pictures on their mouse page. I have to say they are doing a fabulous job with this activity. They are working hard to listen to the M sound.
A big thank you for sending in a white shirt. Monday we will begin to prepare for Thanksgiving and do something special with the shirt! Next Thursday our class will have a dress down day. Students are allowed to wear Thanksgiving colors.
Lastly, a big thank you to McKenna's mom. She joined us today to read teh class a story. The students loved the story The Five Little Monkey's AND really LOVED having you join them in their classroom!
Enjoy the weekend! It looks like the rain is passed and we are in for some sunshine!

November 12
What a terrific Thursday. We are learning so much! Today we really dove in and learned about My Plate. Now that we had the knowledge about food at the food store the students were able to make connections to healthy eating. We learned that healthy eating fuels our body and helps us stay healthy and strong. The students are so proud to tell me what they have for snack and lunch. We read a story today about Why We Eat Healthy? There wa sa little girl in the story that just ate all junk food. We learned that she never tried new foods. I challenged the students to try new foods even if they don't think they will like it, who knows they my end up liking it!
After we read our story we started on our My Plate Poster! The students had the chance to color their plate based on the food goup: red, orange, green, purple and blue. They did a GREAT job with this! Then the students were given stickers of different food in those food groups. The students matched the colors and food items with the correct food group. They love stickers and loved looking at the food they were given. We will continue to work on the posters tomorrow!
God was watching out for us as he allowed some times for the rain to stop! We jumped at the opportunity to stay healthy and get some time outside. A big thank you for sending your child in with sweatshirts and or coats. Everyone was dressed to go outside today. Again, since you send these items in I can take them out no matter what the weather. It was great to get out and take all of nature in; the leaves, sticks and YES WORMS!!! They were out in full force after the rain.
A reminder tomorrow I am looking for white tshirts/undershirts to be sent in. Thank you so much for your help with this!!!!
Have a wonderful night!!!

November 11
I'm BACK!!!! God has truly blessed me with the sweetest children. I can't tell you how wonderful it was to be back with the class. The students were so excited and happy to be together again! We started our morning dancing to Celebration! It was a wonderful homecoming!
We were busy today cathching up and sharing stories. We also revisited the Ll week and searched for acorns one more time. No luck! I guess the squirrels found them all. But we did have a nice walk and found some beautiful leaves and pine cones.
Today we also had our virtual field trip to ACME. A BIG thank you to Leah, Zoe and Skye's mom. They did such a GREAT job showing the class the different departments in the store. We were able to see lots of different types of foods. Leah's mom was able to find some foods that were favorites! This really was a day they will remember! Even if we couldn't go to the food store in person we were able to bring it to the classroom. The students started to make the connection between a fruit vs a vegetable. What dairy products look like and yes we ended in the candy section! It was a terrific field trip!
In the afternoon we worked in our Clifford magazine. The students are doing a great job using pictures and their reading skills to tell me about what we are reading. One friend even noticed there was a question mark on the cover! I love when we start to make these connections!!! Keep up the great reading boys and girls.
A reminder Friday I will need a white t-shirt/undershirt for your child. Thank you to those who sent them in. I know it is a busy time so I thank you for your support in this project!
Have a wonderful night! I hope the students have lots of stories for you!!!

November 10
What another terrific Tuesday! We were busy today writing our letter Mm and learning about healthy eating. We started our morning with the fruit and vegetable hokey pokey. As we were singing and moving we noticed so many bright colored fruits and vegetables. We were able to discuss the fruits and vegetables that were so bright! We realized that our plate should look like a rainbow.
Today we read the story Oliver's Fruit Salad. A cute story about a little boy who was going to make a fruit salad. He was telling his mom about all the fruit that his grandpa grew in his garden. Many of those fruits and vegetables can be found at the grocery store; they may just be packaged a little different. After we listened to the story the students were able to take out their baggies of food items. We oragnized them into the food groups. The students loved sharing what foods they like! We have such a array of different types of foods. After we shared our items we were able to prepare MY PLATE. We colored each section and then placed our food item in the correct spot. They did a fabulous job with this activity. Tomorrow we are so excited that we will have the opportunity to go on a virtual field trip with Zoe, Skye and Leah's mom to the food store! It is going to be so fun to see all the different foods at the store!
Tomorrow is my BIG day! I am returning to school! I can't wait to see all my friends again and just celebrate being together! I want to thank Mrs. Donovan and Ms. Marilyn for all they did to keep the classroom running smoothly. The students were safe, happy and continued to learn so much with them! Of course I also want to thank all my families for being so understanding and supportive. It truly takes a village to do what we do!!!
A reminder Friday I will need a white shirt/undershirt to complete a Thankgiving activity! The kids will have so much fun with this one!
Have a wonderful night and I will see everyone in the moring!!!
Mrs. Albert
November 9
What a beautiful weekend! From the stories the students shared it sounds like you all enjoyed the weekend! What a great to restart and energize the body. Speaking of the body welcome to M week. The theme for the week will be My Plate. The students will learn about nutrition and eating healthy. It will be a fun week to learn about all the bright and yummy foods we could eat to fuel our bodies!
Beautiful day for a picnic lunch!
Tomorrow students are asked to bring in a picture of food items from each food group. Please help your child fill a baggie with the foods of their choice. They will use these to complete a class project! For further details read above in the special dates section of my page.
Also, I am asking that each child bring in a white t-shirt/undershirt for a Thanksgiving project. Thank you for helping me with this project.
Lastly, I am so excited to say Wednesday will be my return date! I can't wait to stand at my classroom door and greet each child!!! It will be a day filled with JOY!
Thank you for all your support and flexibility these past few weeks. It really tested us all but we really came out on top!
God Bless-
Mrs. Albert
November 6
Happy Friday! I want to THANK ALL My FAMILES for taking the time to meet with me to discuss your child. It was so nice to be able to see your faces and let you know how much I love teaching your child. This is a different year but clearly things are working for the students. The growth since the start of the year is huge. The students are showing a love for learning and that is the goal for preschool. With the foundation we have we will continue to grow and have a wonderful time in EC4B!
Update on my return. Good news! I will be joining the class Wednesday! I can not wait!!!! I thank you for your underdtanding and flexibilty during my remote learning experience. The students didn't miss a beat and kind of thought it was neat to have a teacher on the smartboard and two teachers in the classroom! I think we are ready to bring that chapter to a close and all be together again!
Monday we will begin M week leanring about My Plate/Nutrition. Please start look for pictures of a fruit, vegetable, dairy product, sugar item, meat and bread item. These pictures will be used Tuesday. If you place them in a baggie it will be easy for your child to oraganize. Thank you for your help with this activity.
Have a wonderful weekend-
Mrs. Albert
November 5
What a terrific Thursday! Today we continued to learn about leaves. In the morning the students colored a leaf. Many friends noticed that there were words on the leaf. I shared with them just like us the leaf has names for their leaf parts; blade, vein and stem. They were so excited to read those words. During recess the students had a chance to pick a leaf and idetify the stem, blade and veins. How fun to bring their learning to life by using the real object!
Today the students also completed a book The Leaves are Falling Down. The book repeats the same phrase. The only thing that changes is teh color leaves that fall. The students are really loving that they are starting to read! We are really big in EC4B! I have to also mention that their coloring is amazing too! We really work hard to make our work the best we can. We take pride in our work!
After recess we continued to identify and write our numbers. Today they learned to write the number 5 and 6. Both numbers have tricky curves. These are numbers we will continue to practice throughout the year.
I did have a little extra time so we pulled out our FAVORITE chalkboards! They are doing so great with their writing. I would show them how to write the letter and then they would do it on their own board. To challenge them at the end I just told them what letter to write. I was amazed every child recalled the letter I called out and wrote the letter correctly. This was a great way to review letters as well as their writing. So proud of the boys and girls!!!
This afternoon I am so excited to meet with the rest of my families. It is so great to see you all and share all the great things I see your child do in the classroom. I really thank you for taking the time to meet with me.
Mrs. Albert
November 4
The sun is shining and we were filled with joy today. The students were so excited to be in class today. The giggles and smiles filled the room. The class really enjoys being together. I can see how they each bring the best out in each other. As a group we are all helping each other grow in social and emotional ways. I really love this as a teacher!
Today we continued with our Leaf theme. The students started the morning writing the letter L in Rainbow colors. They did a GREAT job. Then we reviewed the importance of an acorn and how the acorn can grow into a big oak tree. We sang a song with body motions to learn about the life cycle of an oak tree. We then discussed the squirrel and how they search for acorns. Many times the squirrel will dig a hole and put the acorn in it for safe keepings. Many times they can remember where they put the acorn... sometimes they forget. We thought that was pretty funny. During craft time the students completed a squirrel craft. They turned out so cute.
In the afternoon we went over a religion lesson reviewing Halloween and discussing real and fantasy. We played a game that had the kids decide if the situation was real or fantasy. Halloween was a great day to dress up and pretend to be other things/people!
I look forward to our Parent/Teacher Conferences. Please arrive a few minutes early to sign into your zoom account. I will let you in from the waiting room when I finish the conference before you. I thank you for taking the time to meet me today.
Reminder tomorrow is another half day. Please send your child in with a snack and drink. Again there will be NO EAGLES CLUB. All students will be dismissed at 11:30.
Have a great night-
Mrs. Albert
November 3
Our L week continued with the students identifying the capital and lower case Ll's. The students are falling right into routine making the connection that what I taught them the day before they carry onto the next day. I am so proud of how well they are identifying their letters! Way to go boys and girls!
Today during language arts I introdcued the life cycle of an oak tree. From the sounds of it many of you have an oak tree in your backyard! We lrearned that an oak tree will have acorns on them. In the fall as the tree prepares for winter they will drop the leaves and acorns. There are times the acorn may drop into the soil. If this happens there is the possibility the acorn will grow roots, turn to a seedling and then a tree. The students said that sounded a lot like an apple and pumpkin seed! It's amazing how we can make those connections! The students had a chance to listen to the story The Little Acorn. After our story we made the cutest little acorn. The students had to cut, glue and follow directions to complete their acorn. They are coming home today in your child's folder.
In the afternoon we reviewed our numbers 1-10. Being able to count and identify number 1-10 is a goal we have for the first semester. We are doing great with this goal. After we practiced our numbers we worked in our handwriting without tears book. We learned how to write the number 3 and 4. The 3 we use curved lines and the 4 we use staright lines. Continue to encourage your child to practice these numbers at home. Writing numbers and letters using the curved lines are the toughest. Practice, practice, practice will help your child master those curves!
Thank you for those who sent in coats, hats and gloves. The morning was chilly but by the time it was recess the sun was out. The great thing about having those items at school is I can always take away something such as a coat if your child gets warm, but if I don't have the items I can not add them if your child is cold. I really want to be able to let your child get out in the fresh air and run thru the chilly months. I can only do that if the students are dressed correctly. Thank you for your help with this!
Tomorrow will be a half day. There will be NO EAGLES CLUB. Every child must be picked up at 11:30. Your child will walk to the back parking lot in a class line. We will dismiss one child at a time. I do ask that if you see your child please step forward and let Mrs. Donovan know you are there.
I will be meeting with each of you via zoom. Please arrive a few minutes early for your scheduled appointment. When it is your scheduled time I will let you in from the waiting room. I look forward to meet with you all!
Have a wonderful night-
Mrs. Albert
November 2
Welcome to Ll week. The theme for the week will be Leaves/Fall. The students learned today that just like animals many trees decided to hibernate for the winter. Without the strong sunlight the leaves are not able to get the food it needs to stay on the tree during the winter. Instead they cahnge color and then fall to the ground. Some of my friends were able to share stories about they are able to make a big leaf pile and jump in the pile! So much fun.
The students had a busy morning with Spanish, Music, Snack, Recess and Lunch. I was alble to join them after Lunch to work on handwriting. The students practiced writing the Letter L. We were reminded that we start at the top when writing the letter L. Since the students did such a great job writing their letter L we were able to review other letters on our chalkboard. They love writing on their chalkboards and really do such a great job! The letters we are reviewing are A, P, F, H, S and L. Continue to practice these letters at home; we should be able to identify the letter, write he letter and working towards knowing the letter sound. Practicing at home just supports what we do in the classroom.
A big thank you to all my families for having those winter uniforms ready! We will continue to try and get the students out for a little fresh air daily. This year I am going to ask that you send in a pair of mittens or gloves and a hat. I will keep these items at school. That way if you forget to send your child to school with them in the morning I have them at school for them. Please place the hat and gloves/mittens in a baggie with your child's name. Also sending your child in with a coat daily will help our chances of getting outside. Weather is so tricky that I would rather be prepared and ready for any type of weather!
I am still waiting for my letter to give me permission to return to school. Fingers crossed it will arrive very soon! I can't wait to be back with all my friends!!!
Stay warm-
Mrs. Albert
October 30
Well, this ended up being a TERRIFIC day for the students! They came into the classroom feeling so excited about the day. They were dressed up and feeling the Halloween spirit. Everyone looked so good. I have to say all of the costumes fit all their personalities! So FUN!
We started the morning with an indoor class parade. The students marched around the room to Halloween music. They had a blast marching and showing off those costumes. Of course we were able to get a few pictures for you!
After Spanish the students had their special Halloween treats! A big thank you to all the families that followed the guidelines and made the celebration a success. The kids really enjoyed it. There are a few treats in their backpacks from classmates. Thank you for making this day SPECIAL!
With the grace of God the rain stopped and the students were able to participate in a Parade around the main building. They marched around so proud and yelling Happy Halloween along their way.
After lunch the students were able to head over to the hall where H&SA set up a photo booth for the classes. The students were in awe of how great it looked. They were excited to take one more picture. Thank you H&SA for making these days special for the students at SJB! The students and teachers felt your love and support! We truly are a special community at SJB!
A reminder Monday students will begin to wear their fall uniforms. This means students will put away their shorts and take out their black sweatpants. Students may continue to wear their SJB tshirt as well as their sweatshirt. Please make sure all sweatshirts are labeled with your child's name.
Also, if you have not sent in your child's fall change of clothes feel free to send those in Monday. We will place those back in their cubbies in case of an emergency. Thanks.
Have a wonderful Halloween! I hear the moon will be FULL! Enjoy every minute.

Rain, rain go away!!! The weather was not working with us as the students had to get out of the cars and walk into school. Some of my friends were mad that the wind and rain were bothering them. The good thing was when they got in the classroom they were filled with joy and left those feelings outside with the rain and wind!
Today the students had a chance to play BINGO with Mr. Hart. This was so exciting to see Mr. Hart have a turn on the smartboard! Mr. Hart would call out a picture and the students would put a M and M on that picture. They thought this was so much fun! We will save the boards and M and M's and play with me tomorrow for Halloween!
After BINGO we had a lesson on Saints. Today we focused on Saint John the Beloved. The students learned that the school they attend is named after him. We learned that Saint John was a good friend to Jesus. St. John wanted to care and love others just like Jesus. We had a chance to make a Saint John the Beloved puppet. They turned out so cute! To end our lesson on Saints we played the song When the Saints go Marching in. The students had a chance to march around the classroom as we sang. So fun!
Tomorrow is our Halloween Celebration. A big thank you to all my families for sending in special treats for the class. Your child may wear their cotumes to school tomorrow. Please make sure names are anything that may come off during the day. The kids are going to be so excited to share their costumes! It will be a FUN and EXCITING day for sure!!!
In your child's backpack is your child's change of clothes. I am asking that you look through the bag and replace clothes items with fall clothes: long sleeve shirt, pants, underware and socks. Please remove the shorts and t-shirts.
Also, a reminder Monday begins Fall Uniforms. That means students wear sweat pants to school, their SJB t-shirt and sweatshirt. PLEASE make sure your child's name is on the SWEATSHIRT! This is a MUST as we transition to fall uniforms.
I thank you for all your support during these busy times! If you have any questions feel free to reach out.

What a wonderful Wednesday! Today we were BUSY!!!! We continued with our Scarecrow and Saints theme. First this in the morning we had a chance to look at four different pictures of scarecrows. Each scarecrow had a different expression on their face. We had to use those face expressions to decide how the scarecrow felt. We can up with some words to describe the scarecrows feelings: shocked, surprised, happy, nervous, worried, sad. We even came up with some stories why the scarecrow would feel that way. Of course we had to take some time to act like a scarecrow. We got up and danced to a scarecrow song. It was funny because as the song went on it got faster and faster. The students did great with keeping up!
We also discussed what a farmer would want to use a scarecrow. The students knew right away that the scarecrow keeps the crows away. We read a cute story, The Gardener and the Scarecrow. The students enjoyed the story and was able to tell me the problem and how the Farmer solved the problem. After the story we were able to make our very own Paper Bag Scarecrow. The students really have to follow my directions when we are completing these crafts. I am amazed everyday how well they do!!! The scarecrows turned out so cute!!!
In the afternoon the rest of my students were able to share their Saint projects. What a terrific job they all did sharing! It was so nice to hear about so many different Saints. The class loved this project! Way to go boys and girls!!!
It is hard to believe tomorrow is Thursday. A reminder your child is allowed to wear their TYE DYE shirts to school. If it is cold your child may wear them over their sweatshirts. The kids love the shirts so I know it will be a FUN day walking into the classroom! Tomorrow the students will also have a fun activity duirng the morning. Mr. Hart will join the class via zoom and play BINGO with the kids. This is going to be so much FUN!!!
Have a wonderful night-

What a tettifc Tuesday! The students came in the classroom with a fun energy this morning! They were ready to see their freinds and release that cloudy day energy. So what better way to do that with BOOing another class. The EC building picks a class to send a special Halloween Treat to. Our class walked down the hall, knocked on a three year old classroom door and screamed BOO. We then return to our classroom leaving the three year olds wondering who BOOed them. It was so much fun and the kids did great! This morning we also sang and danced to our Number Song 1-10. Not only are we focusing on counting but identifying the number 1-10. In the afternoon we had a chance to play a Curious George game where we had to find the missing number and place the correct number in that spot. The game can be found on PBS kids under games/math. It is a great way to reinforce counting and identifying numbers.
We also continued with our Scraecrow theme. The students sang and danced to a few cute Crow songs. We learned that crows really like to eat the corn from a farmers crop. So I started the lesson by showing the kids a science experiment: Hopping Corn. If you want to try it at home all you need is a clear container, popping corn, water, baking soda and vinegar. The kids of course thought it was so cool to watch the pop corn jumping all around!!!! After we completed our science experiment we did a corn craft. The students had to glue and use tissue paper to make the cutest little pieces of corn! We hope the crows don't find them!
In the afternoon we were able to share a few more saint projects! Again the students are doing a great job standing in the front of the room and telling us about their saint. I love this part of projects. The students take such pride in their work!
A reminder a big week ahead of us. Thursday students may wear Tye Dye shirts. If you would liek to put it over their sweatshirts that is fine too. The weather isn't looking too great! The students will have a chance to play BINGO with Mr. Hart via zoom so that will be a special activity.
Friday students are allowed to wear their costumes to school. The weather isn't looking too great so we are just going to be flexible with what is sent our way. If it is raining and windy keep costumes as simple as possible for your child. You don't want things falling on the ground as they are walking. I hope that makes sense. Please make sure any costumes items that we will take off of your child has their name on it. I will create a video of our day for you to enjoy. I am sorry the Halloween Celebration looks different this year but I can assure you the students will have a FANTASTIC, FUN FILLED Day!
Have a wonderful night-

Happy Monday! This is going to be a busy week! Keep an eye on the claendar above as there is alot to remember this week. A big thank you for sending in your child's All Saints Projects. They came in and went right to the computer to show them off to me. It was a wonderful way to start our monring. Today I introduced the special day All Saints Day. We celebreate this day November 1st. This is a day to remember all saints famous and not so famous. This is a day to remember how they loved God, others and displayed acts of kindness just as God as asked us to do. Today a few of my friends were able to share their saints. If your child did not share today they will get a turn another day this week. The students that shared did a terrific job getting up in front of the class and shared their one fact about their saint. They were so proud to share!!!
Today I also intorduced the letter of the week: S. The theme for the week is Scarecrows and Saints. I introduced the theme by discussing that silly animal Crow. A crow can really bother a farmers crop such as corn. We watched a short story about a wise crow. He was thirsty but could not reach the water with his beak. So he had to think of a way to reach that water. He found some pebbles and dropped them in the water. The water went up and up. He finally was able to reach the water. Of course we had to try dropping pebbles in water and see what happens. It really worked! The kids loved it. It is a great little activity for you child at home. Fill a cup with some water, let them collect some pebbles and then drop them one by one in the water. Have your child observe what happens to the water. After our little experiment the students completed a crow craft. They turned out so cute!!!
In the afternoon we worked on indetifying the letter Ss and the sound the letter S makes. The students were eager to tell me words that started with the letter S. They are doing a GREAT job listening to sounds. We also worked in our Handwiriting Without Tears book. Writing the letter S is tricky! One of the hardest letters your child will write. However, I try and make things simple for them. The letter S is made up of two little curves. We start by writing a C and them we do a backwards C. We will practice the letter S throughout the week. For the first time the students did a great job!
A reminder Thursday your child gets to wear their tye dye shirts. They may wear a long sleeve shirt under if it is chilly. Please have your child in their SJB sweat pants or shorts with their class shirt.
Stay warm and pray for sunshine!!!!

Happy FUN Friday! It was a little dreary outside but it was bright in the classroom. The students walked in the classroom looking GREAT in their Halloween colors. It was so fun to comment on the different shirts, pants, bows and dresses. They had so much fun looking different and festive.
The students worked on coloring, cutting and gluing pumpkins first thing. They had to match the pumpkin faces. They did a wonderful job with this activity. Their cutting is improving so much! A reminder if your child uses scissors at home encourage them to have their thumb up. Once they are holding the scissors correct their cutting becomes easy for them.
Today for our Halloween theme we focused on witches. We shared what we know about witches and then watch a short clip about witches to add to our prior knowledge. The students learned witches wear pointy hats, have green skin, a long nose witha wart at the end, fly on broom sticks and can do magic. So today we decided it was a perfect day to turn to witches! Everyone closed their eyes and we counted to three, spun around and wa la Mrs. Albert had a witches hat on top of her head! I was also able to make a magic potion today! The kids loved it! If you would like to make magic potion at home all you need is baking soda, vinegar and a drop of food coloring. Your child will think they too have magic ability! The students had the opportunity to each make a witch mask. I hope you recognize them when they come home!
EACH TABLE CAME UP TO SHOW ME THEIR WITCH MASKS!
In the afternoon we reviewed the letter Hh. We practiced wiriting the letter H, discussed words that start with the letter H and then worked on H worksheet where we had to identify pictures that started with the letter H sound.
Considering the situation we are in with me teaching from home it really has been a GREAT week. The students are carrying on with their schedule just as I was there in person. A BIG thank you to my familes, Mrs. Donovan and Ms. Marilyn. I am truly blessed to have all of your support!
Next week is going to be a BIG week. Monday students should bring in their saint reports. Thursday students are allowed to wear their tye dye shirts. Friday students may dress in their Halloween costumes. Of course if you have any questions you know you can email me!

What a TERRIFIC Thursday! I was able to surprise the students this morning as they entered the classroom. I was so happy to greet their smiling faces. There I was on the computer and Smartboard. Can you believe technology!!!! Yes, I was with my class!!! I can say I am one PROUD teacher. The students did what they had to do and carried on with their routine.
We started our morning with prayer, the pledge and our Phonics ABC song. We then discussed our feelings chart. I had 15 students that were excited about the day! I have to say I was kind of excited too. Sometimes new things can be fun. I was able to call on the students and they were the ones that used their words to tell me all about the chart! We then finished up with calendar. Again the students really had to use their words today to help me understand all the things on our calendar. Today we were in school for 32 days. That was a high number to count to but we did it!
We continued with our Halloween theme. We reviewed animals that relate to halloween. Then we added people and other things that go along with Halloween: witches, skeletons, ghosts, zombies. I then told the students we will be doing a ghost activity today! We listened to the story Ghost Dinner. We predicted what would happen if a ghost ate food; they would get sick, it would go through them. After the story they learned that the ghost would change color based on what they ate! As an art project eat child decided what their ghost would eat. They then used a marker to color a coffee filter and paint on water to spread the marker. After they dry we will turn them into ghosts. So cute!!!
The students loved coming up to the computer to show me their wonderful work!!!
In the afternoon we met to work in our handwrting without tears books. Today we focused on the color blue and orange. We discuss proper ways to sit in a chair when writing, proper pencil grip and working hard to stay in the line (control of the crayon). They are really developing these skills!!!
I was able to end the day with the students during our final circle time. It was so nice to end the day and remind them that I will be back with them again tomorrow. A big thank you for all your thoughtful prayers and support during this time. As you know my students continue to be my top priority and I will continue to move them forward in all areas with the help from Mrs. Donovan and Ms. Marilyn.
Lastly, tomorrow in my class may dress down in Halloween Colors/Shirts. NO COSTUMES this week. Also, a reminder please check your child's folder. We have a few full folders that need to be emptied. Thanks!!!
If you have any questions or concerns I am here to answer them all!

What a wonderful Wednesday! The dreary morning brought a few of my frineds in a little sad. I have to say I don't blame them! It would have been a GREAT day to just stay in our PJ's. The wonderful thing about being four is when they enter the next part of their day they just carry on like they are ready for the next activity! Way to go boys and girls. I love that we can have many feelings during the day and realize that it is OK!
The morning was so fun! We started with the Five Little Pumpkins song. We even had a chance to add some motions to the song. After we sang the song in English and Spanish we completed a Five Little Pumpkin craft. The students had to color, cut and glue their pumpkins in the correct order. We are getting really good with our cutting and identifying numbers. Keep up the great work!!!!
After Spanish class the students reviewed animals that relate to Halloween. Today we focused on the bat. We were able to watch a short video to learn a few facts about bats. I hope your child can share a few of the facts with you. The students then had an opportunity to make a bat craft. They turned out so cute!
In the afternoon we had a religion lesson. This is an important part of our day. When we do and say things we want to remember all that God has taught us. I can tell you that we have a class filled with students that are kind, loving and thoughtful!
A reminder Friday students are allowed to wear Halloween Colors/Halloween Shirt to school. This is a dress down down for our class so they may wear the pants that are comfy too. I do ask that even on dress down days that you still dress your child in comfy and playground freindly shoes. We will still go outside to play.
Also, please make sure you check your child's folder! Saint projects were sent home yesterday. All projects should be returned to school Monday October 26. Students LOVE to share so please help your child with this activity!
Have a wonderful night-

What a different type of morning we all had traveling to school. It was so dark and dreary. My weather girl told me it was a little foggy as she was driving to school. Of course in preschool fashion regradless of the weather the students came in with smiles and giggles. We were ready to continue our Hh week.
The students started the morning identifying the capital and lower case Hh. They are doing a fabulous job identifying the letters. One thing we are starting to focus on is coloring in the circle, taking our time, and most importantly taking pride in their work. Some of my friends are working on staying focused on the activty and others are encouraged to keep moving along to complete the activity. It is still early in the year but these are individual skils I will work on with the students throughout the year. I am not concerned but observations I make as a teacher to help my students.
Today we also created a list of animals that we relate to Halloween. The students came up with a great list: a black cat, bats, wolves, spiders and owls. We came to the conclusion these animals are often black and come out at night. One friend told the class that animals that come out at night and sleep during the day are called nocturnal. I love when students add to the lesson!!!!
I shared with the students that we were going to read a story and sing a song about owls today. After we sang and read our story Owl Babies the students created an Owl art activity. The crafts turned out FANTASTIC! I love how well they are following directions to create their craft.
In the afternoon we reviewed the letter H. Students had an opportunity to complete their H page in their Handwriting Without Tears Book. As an activity before rest we went outside and did one of my favorite activities: jumping letters. I had letters A, F, P, H placed on the walkway. As we saw a letter we jumped over it and would yell the letter. This is something you can always do at home. The students loved it!
Check your child's folder/backpack. All Saints Day projects have been sent home! Have fun researching and creating a saint.
Have a wonderful night.

Welcome to Hh week. The theme for the week will be Halloween! The students knew as soon as they saw the letter H we would be talking about Halloween. What a FUN and EXCITING time to be 4! What better way to kick off the morning but with a funny story. The students had the chance to listen to There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a pie. We were giggling all the way through the story. After we listened to the story we worked on retelling. The students took turns telling me what the lady ate. After we listened to the story the students were able to make their own piece of pie. Lots of glue, tissue paper, contruction paper and a cotton ball and there we had our piece of yummy pie!
We also focused on our letter Hh today. We listened to our H phonics song and then created a list of words that started with the letter H. We learned that when we say the H sound it is like a breathe of air. Again we don't want to say the H sound too hard or it will turn into the HA sound. The students had a chance to stregthen their fine motor skills by pin pinching. We decided that we would also enjoy the beautiful day and take our chalkboards outsdie and practice writing the letter H and reviewing the letters we already did: A, F, P.
It was a FUN and Beautiful day. I truly am blessed to have such a special class. Have a great night.

Fun Friday! It was rainy outside but the sun was bright in the classroom. The students came in the classroom ready to go. I love that when we checked our feelings chart today their were some friends that realized their feeling changed from the morning. It is so nice to see that our feelings can change throughout the day.
This morning we were busy finishing up our Pumpkin week. Today the students learned about mixing colors. The students had to mix red and yellow. When the two colors go together they make an orange. I love how all of the orange colors were a little different. All of the pumpkins turned out GREAT!!! They will be added to our Fall Fun bulletin board.
We also had a FUN Friday visitor. Mrs. Durney took some time to visit our classroom via zoom. The students were so EXCITED especially Jake. Thank you Mrs. Durney for making our Friday extra special.
In the afternoon we had a chance to do a lesson about how God made everyone special. We came up with so many ways that we are special. The students learned that they can use the ways they are special to help others. We have a very loving a helpful class!
It looks like the weekend is going to be beautiful! Enjoy

What a WONDERFUL, FUN Day! The field trip was a hit! The students went outside and were in awe of their SJB pumpkin patch! I can not go forward without saying a HUGE thanh you to Mrs and Mr Thomas. Without them this day would not have been so special! I am so thabkful for my students and familes. In difficult times we are making the BEST situtaion for our students!!!!
AT SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS ROCK!!!!

Happy Wednesday! It ended up being a beautiful day. The sun was out and the students were so happy. We started the morning reviewing our P's. The students had to identify the capital and lower case Pp letters. They did such a great job with that. Today we also practiced writing our letter P. I have to say when the students follow along with me they do such a GREAT job writing. Try and provide crayons and paper at home for your child to practice writing their letters, name and even just drawing a picture.
Today the students learned the parts of a pumpkin. We were able to touch and open a real pumpkin. The inside of the pumpkin was so gooey. Once we identified the parts of a real pumpkin we did a pumpkin craft where the students had to piece together the pumpkin and label the parts.
After lunch the students completed the P page in the Handwriting without Tears book. Again, I was so impressed with how well the students formed teh letter P. Since we had some time before rest we went back outside to review the letters A, F and P. The students had to find items from nature to make the letters. It was a great way to review letters, encouraged the students to think outside the box and it was just fun!
Tomorrow is our big IN SCHOOL PUMPKIN PATCH FIELD TRIP. This trip will take place next to the EC building! We are not leaving the SJB grounds: even if we are going to pretend! Please remember to send your child in waterproof boots. Please pack the sneakers in your child's backpack to change into once the field trip is over. It is going to be a day filled with memories!
Lastly, school pictures are in your child's backpack!!! They are so CUTE!!!!
Have a great night-

Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. I know it wasn't easy for some of my friends to return but I can assure you when they got in the classroom they were off and running with fun and activities.
This week I introduced the letter Pp. The theme for the week will be Pumpkins. Today we started by reviewing the letter A and F. The students then indentified teh letter Pp. We realized that they look a little alike but many friends noticed the lower case p looked more like a circle and the capital P was more an oval. To be honest I never really looked that close at the two but the students were correct in saying that! We also went over how to make the letter P sound. The letter P is a soft out. We don't want to be so strong when making the puff from our mouths. The students did great with that!
The students also learned the life cycle of a pumpkin. We first reviewed the life cycle of an apple. They have great memories! We were able to act out each step of the life cycle of an apple. Just like an apple the pumpkin has a life cycle. We watched a short video about the pumpkin life cycle which I included in my tab youtube videos. As a whole group activity we colored and put the life cycle of the pumpkin in the correct order.
In the afternoon we read from our Scholastic Magazine about pumpkins. The students are doing terrific using pictures to read. After we completed our magazine we were able to go to the scholastic web page and play a pumpkin game. The students needed to use shapes to make a pumpkin face. It was a lot of fun!
As the weather is changing we know cold season is right around the corner. We know that masks are not madantory at the Pre-K level but is suggested. To help keep the students healthy and safe I am encouraging the students to wear their masks in the classroom during instruction. If the child needs a mask break that is ok. They will take a break and then the mask will go back on. If you could support me with this little change I would appreciate it. I have to say the kids really did great with it and the change really isn't all that different for many of the students. I will continue to take the students outside as much as I can! Continue to dress your child in layers to be prepared for the change in temperature throughout the day. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
Have a wonderful night-

Happy FUN Friday. What a great day. We ended our Fire Safety week with a lot of fun. The students came in first thing and got their EC4B field day shirts. They worked so hard on these! The other week each child had the chance to tye dye their shirt field day shirts. I took them home and cleaned them. Today each child picked their own shirt. Hold onto these as we will wear these on special days throughout the year!
My Girls
The Guys
This morning we worked on writing the letter F. The students are doing such a great job writing their letters. Practicing at home with chalk, crayons, markers and even a paint brush with water on the drive way can really help.
The students all had a chance to make their very own Fire Fighter Craft and end with a Fire Fighter game. It was such a terrific morning. In the afternoon we decided to do our f lesson outside. It required a lot of listening and organizing but they all did it!!!! The students had to point to pictures, say the name of the picture and decide if the picture started with the F sound. We were so great listening for that f sound. Many of my friends were even able to identify the sound of the letter that didn't start with f. So FUN!
I hope everyone enjoy the long weekend. I will see all my friends back Tuesday to start our Pumpkin week!

Terrific Thursday! There is something about have a job where you come to work and you are just surrounded by JOY! The energy and excitement that comes from your children each morning is amazing. I truly am so blessed that you share your child with me each day.
This morning the students worked on identifying the capital and lower case Ff letters. These papers are coming home. Take a minute to review the papers with your child. Allow them to show you a capital F and a lower case f. Identifyling letters is a skill we assess in Pre-K. If your child didn't get to the second page they can always finish it at home. During this activity I also encourage the students to use good pencil grip and try to control teh crayon when coloring. This takes patience and slowing down their coloring. Some of my friends just want to rush through the activity. I would rather your child have control of their crayon than finishing both pages.
The students were also so excited for our guest zoom visitor! Mr. Albert stopped by to take us on a tour of the Hockessin Fire House. The students loved it. They were able to see fire trucks and Mr. Albert's Fire Gear. Hopefully the students got an idea that fire fighters aren't too sacry when they have on their equipment. The students also discussed the emergency number 911 today. We discussed that this number is used when there is a BIG emergency. If there is an adult around they would be the ones to call for help. We came up with a few examples of when we would call; needing a bandaid is a time we wouldn't call. I am so thankful for technology as I believe the students got a lot out of the zoom Fire House visit today.
After lunch the students worked in their Handwriting Without Tears book. They focused on writing the capital letter F. When writing the capital F the students start at the top with a big line down. We then pick our pencil up and go back to the top. We then do small line and small line. Great job boys and girls!
Tomorrow we will finish our Fire Safety week. It really has been a fun and exciting week.

What a wonderful Wednesday. We continued with our Ff week focusing on the capital and lower case letter Ff. The students are beginning to use the vocabulary word capital and lower case and identify the letters. We are also noticing that the capital and lower case Ff do not look exactly the same. The capital letter uses straight lines and the lower case f uses a curve and straight lines. The students learned when we are writing the letter Ff we start at the top for the capital F and to the side for the lower case f. We practiced this when we pin pinched our Ff page. They did a great job pin pinching. The students are working really hard to pinch that pin and go up and down on the letter Ff. Uses one hand on the pin and the other hand on the paper is not always easy.
Today we also learned about fire trucks. We started with what we know about fire trucks; what color they can be, the parts of the fire truck and what a fire truck does. The students completed a page about labeling the parts of the fire truck. I also read a story about a fire truck and then completed the lesson by creating a fire truck craft. We were busy but loved very minute of learning!
In the afternoon we had a religion lesson on belonging. We are learning that we are all very special in God's eyes. He is here for us and watches over us. When we are doing good for others and making good choices God is proud of us.
As you can see we are very busy throughout the day. I don't mention this in my report but the students also have an hour daily on the playground and we also take walks before rest and eat outside. This is a big day for the students. They are doing GREAT enjoying every minute. Today many of my friends checked in with the feeling of being tired. I just want to remind everyone rest at home is also important. When your child comes home from school let them relax with down time. A good dinner and early bedtime is also key. These things will help with how your child feels and behaves. Working together will create the best day for your child. If you ever have a question or concern feel free to email me.
Tomorrow is going to be an exciting day for the students. Mr. Albert will be zooming with us. He will take us on a virtual field trip to the Hockessin Fire House! The students can't wait!!
Have a wonderful night-

What a terrific Tuesday! The students are growing so much! It really is such a joy to watch their independence grow and their victories continue. I am so impressed with how well the students are signing in each morning. Students are learning how to not only sign in but write their letters with correct form. The smiles on their faces with the feeling of success is always a great way to start the morning. Keep up the hard work boys and girls!
As if my early morning couldn't get better it did!!! We reviewed the letter of the week Ff. We went over the sound, how to say the sound and words that started with the letter F. I was blown away with how well the students did. The students played a game where the would say the F sound.... f f and then the word that started with that f sound. Kids had their hands up eager to take a turn. They did GREAT!!!! If a child said a word that didn't start with the f sound we would say the word and check the word. I love when we need to check our words because that how we learn.
Today we also continued with our Fire Safety theme. Today I read the story Clifford the Firehoouse Dog. After we read the story the students were able to make their very own fire dog. They turned out so cute. Mrs. Donovan and I were talking about how well they are doing with crafts. Organizing their materials, cutting, coloring and gluing. Following directions is also awesome!!!
In the afternoon we worked in our Handwriting Without Tears book. Thoday we focused on straight lines to form the letter A and F. The students are doing terrific with their pencil grips forming the letters.
Above is a sign up genius for our Halloween celebration 10/30. If you have any questions at all feel free to email me. You may also start to get those costumes ready... kids will be allowed to dress up 10/30 for the day celebration.
Have a wonderful evening.

Happy Monday! I am so happy to be back! I am rested and back to my 100% energy. It was so wonderful to see my friends and their sweet faces. We really missed each other. I was so proud of them all as they just continued on with their week and did it being star students!!! Way to go boys and girls.
This is going to be another Fun week. The letter for the week is Ff. The theme for the week will be Fire Safety. The students will have an opportunity to learn about what to do in case there is a fire, the emergengy number 911, fire fighters, fire trucks and fire dogs. At the end of the week we will have a chance to visit the Hockessin Fire House via Zoom. My husband who is a volunteer fire fighter will show the students the fire house, the fire trucks and his fire fighter equipment. The students are excited for this event!
Today the students started the morning reviewing the letter Aa. They had to identify the capital and lower case Aa and also practice writing the capital A. They did a fantastic job. We will continue with this skill weekly as we learn new letters.
The students were also introduced to the letter Ff. We discussed how the letter Ff look a little different. The capital F uses straight lines and the lower case f uses a small curved line on the top. The students also learned the sound the letter F makes. Big key to making the sound F is that our mouth remains closed. As soon as we open our mouth we end up with the Fa sound. We will continue this sound throughout the year. We also created a list of words that started with the letter F. The students are doing great listening to the beginning sounds of the words.
In your child's lunch box is a number 10 cookie from school. The number 10 celebrates the Early Childhood building starting. Hard to believe it has been 10 years since this all started!!!
Father Joe also stopped by the bless our pets. The students were so excited to share their pets and have them blessed. Every child shared their animal with the class after Father left. God Bless all the animals!

Wonderful Wednesday! God was watching over us as the rain went away and the sunshine came out. You know I was thinking about every possible way to get the students over to pictures without getting wet.... didn't have to worry about that! The students came into the classroom looking so beautiful and handsome. It was so fun to see the kids dressed in fancy clothes. They were so proud. We walked over to the gym where we were able to social distance to wait our turn to take our pictures. They all did a GREAT job!
Today we continued to learn about the letter A and the theme apples. We discussed what we can make using apples. We came up with a terrific list; apple, sauce, apple jam, apple pie, apple juice and apple cider. Our craft for the day was to make an apple pie. The students had to organize their art materials by sorting by like items, they cut and glued. They did an amazing job. I encourage my friends to have a little art area set up at home. Cutting, drawing and writing will help strenghten their little hands. When cutting remind your child thumb up. The apple pies will be coming home today. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
Before recess I was not feeling 100% so I decided it would be best to go home. As you know I am very serious this year about germs and I also hold that true for myself and Mrs. Donovan. In the past I could have continued on with the day but this year I will not take a chance. There is no reason for concern. Of course as we all do I will take another Covid test to assure I am safe. Mrs. Donovan will continue on with the apple theme and fun activities I have planned for the rest of the week. I will of course keep you all in the loop if things change for me. If you have any questions feel free to email me. I am still up planning and checking my emails.
Have a wonderful evening-

Happy Tuesday. What another wonderful Apple Day for EC4B. The students came in and worked on their apple craft. The craft encouraged students to follow directions and think about how to make the craft work for them. Putting the glue on the white paper was the easiest way. Putting the glue on the tissue paper made for a sticky situation. The thing I love about the school experience is the students have the opportiunity to learn from the way they do things. If things aren't working out they can try a different way. I am sending hoem the apple craft today. I hope you love them as much as I do!
The students have a little assessment following oral directions this morning. We reviewed the parts of an apple. After we reviewed the students completed the Parts of an Apple worksheet. We did this together step by step. I would show them and then they would do. They did a TERRIFIC job with this! I did observe if a student was not looking or listening to me they would be doing something different. This is a skill we will work on throughout the year. At this point there is no reason for concern at all! We are doing GREAT!
Today we also learned about the Life Cycle of an Apple. The students listened to the steps and then we acted out the steps. It is always fun to bring the things we are learning about to life. After we understood the steps were given pictures of the steps of the life cycle. The students colored the steps and then placed them in the correct order on a sentence strip. We ended up with a Apple Life Cycle Hat. They did a Wonderful job following directions to complete the hats.
I am also starting to focus on developing our Fine Motor Skills. Today the students were introduced to pin pinching. This activity requires the students to pinch a pin. Up and down the students poke holes in the letter Aa. For some this is a lot of work. As we continue to practice pin pinching it will get easier. As we used the new pin the kids thought it was pretty fun and exciting regardless of how many times they poke the letter Aa!
Reminder tomorrow is PICTURE DAY. We will be first thing in the morning. Students are allowed to wear their Sunday Best, no need to worry about the school uniform. The only request I have is that you have your child wear comfy shoes or send in their sneakers. If weather permits we will still be heading outside for recess. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
Have a wonderful night-

Welcome to our first week focusing on a letter and theme! The letter for the week will be Aa. The theme will be apples. It is going to be a BUSY week as we begin to learn new routinesto learn new skills based around Aa and apples.
This morning the students came into school and got right to work creating the letter Aa head piece. The students had to color, cut and write their name on the headband. Once we were all decked out in ourhead bands the students were introduced to the letter Aa phonics song(I have included the song in the link Youtibe Videos). I taught the students the way we say the Aa sound(we start with the sound vowel sound as in apple). We then came up with a list of words that start with the letter a. They did a wonderful job with this and really show an interest in learning about the letter Aa.
During our morning routine an alarm went off. We had our first firedrill. The students did such a GREAT job. They got on line quietly and walked outside with quick feet. Once we got to our special spot on the black top we waited for the OK from Mr. Hart to return to the classroom. When we got back to the classroom we cheered real loud for being brave and following directions. Way to go EC4B!
We then had two specials this morning, Spanish and Music. So this kept up really busy!
After the specials I was able to introduce the theme for the week: Apples! Everyone was so excited. Today we each had an apple. I introduced the parts of the apple. It was fun that every child had a chance to take apart their own apple and touch, see and feel the parts of the apple. After we had the hands on opportunity we were able to read our Scholastic Magazine and read about the parts of the apple. As independent work the students completed an activty coloring the parts of the apple.
We even went outside to plant the seeds!!!
Tomorrow we will learn how the apple grows and how to write the letter A. We will begin with learning the capital A and then move to the lower case a.
Looking towards Wednesday. The students will have an opportunity to have individual school pictures. Students are allowed to dress in their Sunday best. Please remember that we will still be playing outside. Shoes are important. If you would like to send sneakers the backpack that is fine. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
Lastly, we had a birthday boy this past weekend! Happy 5th Birthday to our buddy Jake!
Have a wonderful night-

Happy Thursday! What another terrific day. We were busy continuing to learn all about our class friends. Today we had a BIRTHDAY QUEEN! Happy birthday to our sweet Grace. This year we are not celebrating with treats but we are celebrating with the students being my helper for the day. Grace really thought this was so silly. We sure did giggle a lot today!
Today Sloane and Aine had a chance to share their All About Me Bags. I loved when the girls ran up they screamed they were so excited to share! I love their energy and excitement for sharing.
Today for our class craft we worked on a little person. Each child had a chance to create a person that looked just like them. They are doing great with the details needed when drawing a person. Of course they had a chance to look in a mirror to remind them of the features on their face. We were able to share ideas of what we want to be when we grow up. I love hearing their dreams!
After lunch today we had a special visitor. Mrs. Newcomb our art teacher and Aine's mommy came to do an art lesson with the kids. A big that you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to work with our class.
I also want to thank all my families! We are doing such a GREAT job keeping the kids healthy and rested. You are all amazing. If we continue to help the students stay rested and feeling good we are going to have a great Fall! We truly are a special EC4B Family!
Have a wonderful night-

What a Wonderful Wednesday! The weather is beautiful and the students came in was happy and bright faces. This morning as the students arrived they followed their morning routine: unpack, wash hands, place their little person on the feeling chart, sign in and then begin an activity on the ipad. Today the students had a chance to visit PBS kids. They worked on a Curious George Counting game. Students were so proud that they were counting flowers all the way up to 20! At the end of the technology session I taught the students how to go back to the home page and select a new game. They did GREAT. A few wonderful points about using technology is that it is a great one on one review of skills and students must listen to directions to complete teh activity. This is not always easy when you are four. Many times kids just want to be told what to do. If you would like to have your child practice skills at home teh PBS site is on my teacher page. Just click on the picture and you can visit the
Today we also continued with our All About Me theme. Today we listened to the story Chrysanthemum. What a wonderful story about a little mouse who had a unique name. After the story the students had the opportunity to make a Chrysanthemum craft. The students also worked on writing their name on hearts. They are doing terrific writing their names. We will continue this daily.
In the afternoon we worked on Handwriting Without Tears. The students focused proper sitting and proper pencil grip. They are adjusting so well to using their book and following directions. Handwriting is actually one of the favorite activities for many of the students.
Lastly, a few friends were able to share their All About Me Bags. The class loves hearing and learning about their friends. Thank you for supporting this activity. Kids really love to share!!!

A big thank you to all the families that made time last night for Back to School Night. It was so nice to see so many of you. I know it was a lot of information. If at any time you have a question feel free to contcat me! I am always here for you.
Today we continued with our All About Me theme. It was such a GREAT day. We started with a story I Like Myself. I loved it... as I was reading the students would repeat what I was saying. It was wonderful to hear the students stay positive things about themselves and of course I made a big deal that they were reading!!! After we read the story the students worked on a craft. It was a mirror craft. They drew a picture of themselves and glued it onto a mirror. They did a terrific job!!!
We also lso shared ways that we are special. The smartboard was COVERED with different ways. It was clear to us that we are a SPECIAL group of students!
The students were also given a Y-O-U poem. As a class we read the poem together. It was so much fun and so neat to see the students looking at the words and reading! Way to go boys and girls!!!
In the afternoon we had religion. We read a story about a little girl who started pre-k. There was a little boy who friended her on the first day of school. This helped the girl love pre-k. We discussed things at preschool that make us happy. We came up with a great list.
Before rest we went outside and sat in a BIG circle. The students that had their ALL ABOUT ME Bags had the opportunity to share. They did a GREAT job sharing. We love learning new things about our friends!
Enjoy the beautiful weather!

What a BUSY Monday! This morning we got so much done. The students came into school and were so excited to see that they had water color paints waiting for them. Each child had teh chance to identify their feeling and then paint/color a paper face. I love how each of them explore the materials the way they see fit. Some of my friends painted a face with two eyes, a nose and a mouth. While others explored with the paint colors. No matter what they did they knew I LOVED IT ALL!!!
This morning I also introduced the students to individual ipads. We worked on logging, finding symbaloo and clicking onto ABCya. The students worked on a bubble popping ABC game. They loved it. I am hoping that the students become comfortable getting on the ipads and working on letter, color and number skills to enhance our curriculum. This activity will become our morning work. We are so blessed to have these resources at SJB.
Mr. Delfin, our school counselor also came to visit our class to discuss feelings. It was a terrific lesson. The students have a wonderful connection with him already. They talked about feelings and were able to provide examples of when they would feel that way. They also had a chance to color a picture of what makes them happy. Watching them with another teacher really filled my heart with joy. They were such good listeners and so eager to learn. We gave Mr. Delfin a big cheer after the lesson to thank him for taking time to visit us.
Mrs. Wagner also came to visit us today. The students loved music class. Today they were able to use their music sticks. I was so proud of how they followed with the beat of the music. It was so FUN!
In the afternoon we took our recess time out on the grass. The students are so kind to one another including each other in games they play. Mrs. Donovan and I commented how sweet they all are! As we were playing we noticed the local groundhog. We see him often as he tends to eat a lot of the grass in the field. The students decided we needed to name him. Currently we are gathering names and will be voting very soon.
Lastly, we had a chance to learn more about our freinds today. Three of my students had a chance to share their ALL ABOUT ME BAGS. They did great getting up in front of the class and sharing. The students did a great job at their seats being good listeners. I love when we get to learn about our friends! Continue to send in your child's ALL ABOUT ME BAGS this week.
Tonight is Back to School Night. I sent the zoom information via email. If you did not get it please email me so I can forward it to you! I can't wait to see you all and share all teh good news about EC4B!!!
Have a wonderful night-

Fun Friday! We love our Fridays!!! You could tell the students reached the end of the week. Some of my friends were sleepy and ready to be home. So we spent our morning circle time talking about feelings. I even told my friends about those butterflies that visit our belly sometimes. Those feelings aren't always about being sick but feelings about being a little nervous or hungry. Sometimes when we take a deep breathe and carry on with our day and those butterflies disappear. As we know sometimes it's easier for some. Working together and providing love and support we can get through anything!
Morning calendar was amazing! The students amaze me everyday. Today as we brought our weather chart to a close we were making observations. Students would look at the chart and tell me things they noticed; cold won this week. I would ask why did cold week? A child would tell the class Cold won because it had 4 votes and warm only had 1. Another student raised his hand and told be that is a total of 5 votes. I again wanted them to explain so I asked how do do you there is a total of 5? He proceeds to tell me 4 cold and 1 warm equal 5. This is one of the many reasons I teach! I love to watch the students take ownership of their learning and take it to places you couldn't imagine! Way to go boys and girls. You really make me proud.
Today we ended our Learning about SJB theme with a tour around the school. This year the tour was a little different. Rather than walking in the school we walked outside and learned about our school. We met lots of new staff and administration! It was so fun to get to know our school a little better!
Our Principal Mr. Hart
Our Front Office Secretary Mrs. Tobin
Our Nurse Mrs. Perrine
Our Counselor Mr. Delfin
Our Technology Teacher Mrs. Coffield
Our Spanish Teacher Ms. Koval
Now that we have completed our second week of school I am going to adjust a few things to the classroom procedures. Monday you will only need to send in 1 towel and 1 sheet. You will only need to send in one water bottle as I am able to refill bottles right from my classroom now. Students do not need to wear their little person name tag to school. We adjusted great arriving to the classroom and knowing who their taecher is. Lastly, school arrival time begins 7:20-7:40. If you arrive after 7:40 I ask that you take your child to the front office to check in.
Monday you may begin to send your child's All About Me Bags in. A few students will share each day.
Monday is also Back to School Night at 6:30. I will email parents the Zoom information. If you do not receive the email by Sunday please email me. For secruity reasons I will not post the Zoom information on my teacher page. The metting will begin at 6:30. If you are unable to attend I will have my presentation on a tab on my teacher page.
Have a wonderful weekend!!! See everyone Monday morning!

What a Terrific Thursday! This morning ALL the students walked into the classroom with a BIG smile. We were so excited when we saw our feelings chart had zero sad or crying faces! We were so excited that we had so many happy and excited faces!!! You know we cheered really loud.
The morning was so busy. We started with counting to 20 and then working on identifying number 1-10. This is a skill we will continue to work of throughout the year. Making flashcards at home 1-10 can be helpful. You can show your child a number and they say the number. Once they master the 1-10 we will move 11-20 (these can be tricky).
Today we had a chance to play in centers. The kids were so excited. They students were able to play in groups of three. Each group selected the activity they wanted to play in. This year students are not allowed to travel from activity to activity due to keeping health safety first. So if your child did not get to an activity they wanted they will have a turn next time.
In the afternoon we also had some fun with balloons. Every student got their own balloon. We were able to try and keep the balloon in the air for as long as possible. The students loved this and so did I! As a teacher I really work hard to get the students moving in a safe manner. Today I felt the kids needed a day to be 4 and just explore! It was a great day!
We did get in some handwriting. The students worked on proper pencil grip, aim and scribble. Having control of their pencil is our main focus during these writing activities. We are also working on how to sit up straight with legs in front of us to help with the best handwriting possible. I have to say they did a FABULOUS job! I am really pleased with how well they did!!!!
Today in your child's folder is a brown bag. The activity is attached. This is the student's ALL ABOUT ME Bag for next week. The students may place three items in the bag to share with the class next week. Each child is given a specific day to share. Please send the bag into school the day they are assigned.

Happy Wednesday! We were busy this morning! The students came in and got right to work. The students painted their 4 year old smiles with yellow and black paint. They did a fabulous job! It has been an adjustment to do the crafts as a whole group but we are doing it! I am really proud of my class.
Today read the story Mouse Goes to School. What a cute story! After the story the students were able to follow directions to make their own little mouse puppet. Listening and following directions is so important this year. I am starting with one direction at a time. They are doing so GREAT with this.
In the afternoon we were able to use our religion book! The students learned about how God loves us and created us all to be so special! We discussed ways that we are special. The students came up with a wonderful list. After our lesson the students completed a picture of their happy face. I love how we are focusing on our feelings! They are doing so terrific identifying their feelings and how we can change feelings throughout the day. Talking about our feelings is really helping the students. Way to go boys and girls!
In your child's folder today is PICTURE DAY FORMS. You may complete the form I sent to you and return it to school on or before September 30. If you complete the form online please send me a copy of the confirmation. Students are allowed to dress up for their pictures. So feel free to start getting the pretty and handsome clothes ready!
Have a wonderful night-

What a Terrific Tuesday. The students came in and had so much fun creating feeling faces. They used crayons, scissors and glue to make their face. I absolutely love their creativity! All of the students do what they invision. What a great way to start their morning!
Morning circle is really impressive for our second week of school. The students review our feeling chart where we discuss our feelings and compare how many votes each feeling gets. We are learning words like more than, less than and our counting numbers. During calendar time students are identifying the day of the week, numbers that come after a number, the days of the week and identifying the months of the year! They are really enjoying this time and love to participate!!!!
After Spanish I read the story Curious George's First Day of School. I LOVE George! We were amazed at how many thing George got into when he was at school. He sure is a silly monkey. After we read the story the students had a chance to do a George craft. They had to cut on lines to make a bus and then glue the pieces together to make the bus. Lastly, they placed George on the bus like he was driving! Silly George!
After lunch the students were introduced to their handwriting book. The students were taught how to sit up tall when working on their handwriting. We also worked on proper handwiting grip. Today the students colored items that focused on aim and scribble. They did a fabulous job!
We have been doing such a great job during drop off that I am asking all students to start drop off between 7:20-7:40 in the morning. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
As the weather is changing please make sure all coats and sweatshirts have your child's name on them. This will help us identify the owner quickly.
Have a wonderful night!

Happy Monday! The students came in great today! The second isn't always easy but with routine and your support all of the students made it to the classroom and carried on with their day. We welcomed three new friends to the class. The students were so excited to have more friends to play with. Of course I had to take a picture of my complete class!!! This is the sweetest class!!!
This morning we had spanish and music! The students loved both classes. They had a chance to go outside with the teachers and do their classes. In music the students had a chance to use their musical instruments. How fun!
In the afternoon we had our reading lesson outside by the picnic tables. I read the story "No David". After we read the story se discussed what it meant to be a peacemaker and a peacebreaker. We really aim to be a peacemaker at SJB! I then gave them different situations where the students identified if that act was being a peacemaker or peacebreaker. Lastly, they made their very own David puppet. Not only did we need to follow directions to put David together but we had to keep our items close to us so the wind wouldn't blow them away! Sometimes you just have to find the humor in our situation... a little wind can't stop us!!!
A reminder if you did not send a towel in for your child please send it in tomorrow! We really are off to a great start to a FUN and PRODUCTIVE year!!!
God Bless-

Fun Friday was a hit! We had tons of giggles and lots of smiles! It's hard to believe we are done with week one! We did such a fantastic job! The students quickly learned the school routine and found support with their classmates. We truly have such a loving class. Monday we will welcome a few more friends to complete our school family!
I want to thank all the moms and dads. I am aware as the week went on that reality started to settle in with many of my friends. They realized they were off to school and many of you would still be home working. You were not alone when your child said I want to stay home with you! I always remind myself nothing is forever. We will get through this phase, just hold on tight and remember that! Of course if you ever have any concerns feel free to email me and we can work on a solution.
This morning the students had the opportunity to work on decorating their school fish. They used glue to stick on glitter paper and crayons to decorate. They did a terrific job with this! I can't wait to hang them on the bulletin board to decorate the room.
I read the story Splat Goes to School. What a cute story about a little cat that had to pick one special event from his summer. He had a problem... how could he only pick one thing? At the end of the story he realized what was the one thing that was constant during his summer events: his little sister! After we read our story the students were able to make their very own Splat the Cat. The students had to paint and glue the pieces to make Splat. They turned our so cute!!!
We also learned shapes today. They really know their shapes. We discussed how the oval looks like the circle but it is just stretched out. The rectangle looks like a square but it is stretched out too! We went for a a walk outside to find things in nature that look like our different shapes.
I am sending a video today to your emails as a recap our first week of school together! It realy was a GREAT day. I just LOVE this class. Have a wonderful weekend and I will see everyone Monday!!!!

It may have been cloudy outside but it was sunny in our classroom! This is one amazing little class! We are getting so much done because they are following a routine daily. The routine helps the students know what to expect and how to act in a given situation. Now that we are sharing a lot verbally I am encouraging students to raise their hands when they have something to share. I like to try and get to all my students throughout the day so raising our hands is very important.
In your child's backpack you will find a brown bag with your child's name. Your child has been working on this activity every morning. It is their Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Trees. There were many steps the students had to do to complete this STEAM activity, color, peel letter, and build their tree. This morning was a hit as many friends began to balance there sticks. I had students left and right cheering that they were able to balance the sticks to create their tree. I hope they take a minute to share their tree with you.
Our morning also started with the stuidents identifying their feelings and posting their little person on the feeling board. It is wonderful to see how accepting we are of all our feelings. We are safe to say we are sad or tired. We take the time to look at our feelings and share what we observe. Today we had a tie between tired and sad. Excited had 8 votes and happy had 7. Excited won because 8 is more than 7!
Our morning ran so smooth as the students listened to Mr. Hart say morning announcements, we sang our good morning song, wiggled to our ABC phonics song and ended with our calendar to review math skills; counting, days of the week, months, patterns and weather.
After a little morning recess the students came in and we read our first Scholastic Magazine. First, we looked at the cover and shared what the cover could tell us about what we were going to read. Pictures really help us read!!!! After we read the magazine together we completed the back. We discussed feelings and then had to find the picture that showed the picture. Another GREAT job by my students!!!
The last activity of the day was our Self Portrait. We discussed what we see when we look in a mirror. Eye color, hair color, ears, a nose and so on. The students then had a chance to look in a mirror and draw what they saw. They are WONDERFUL!!!! In January we will do another one. I can't wait to see how they evolve as the students grow.
You can see we are very busy in EC4B! We are loving every minute!!! Have a terrific night and we will see everyone for FUN FRIDAY!

The second day of school was a hit! Of course the second day there are a few more feelings but we quickly moved through them. In the morning we go over How are we Feeling Today poster. I love this because the students have the opportunity to share their morning feelings with me. We are learning that it is OK to feel different ways during the day. It is OK to not be happy all the time. Putting words to their feelings is very helpful! Also knowing that we all feel the same sometimes is a good feeling too. I always go back to my motto I am a Mom so I will always provide that love and safety to all my students!
The morning routine could not have gone better! The students came in, unpacked, washed hands and got to work on their STEAM Trees. Today many of the students added their letters that spell out their name and even started to figure out how to build their tree. I can't wait for them to share them with you. Hopefully they will come home tomorrow.
Today we learned about Germs. The students listened to a story Germs vs Soap. After we listened to the story we wanted to see for ourselves why it is so important to wash our hands. We went outisde and conducted a science experiment. The kids LOVED it! We are know big hand washing fans!!!
After our outdoor picnic lunch we came inside and met a new friend... Chester the Raccoon. Chester read us a story The Kissing Hand. He shared with us that he misses his mommy when he went to school. We told him we understood and felt that way too! Hi smommy shared us a secret to help us feel our parents love when we are at school. I hope your child shares their secret with you!!!
I thank you for all you have done to make the transition back to school seamless. Hang in there in the AM as your child will begin to want to sleep rather than get out of bed. We are in this together!
God Bless-

Parents and grandparents a HUGE thank you for supporting the process of returing to school. You all truly amazed me with your generous school supplies; especially the cleaning materials and enthusiasm to have your child back in the classroom. I look forward to work with you all.
Monday I will be posting a video for the students to watch the day before school. I hope it helps ease your child's mind.

A BIG Thank You for attending orientation today/tonight. It was so nice to be able to put a face to the names I have been writing all week. We really have a special class; parents and students. In uncertain times I can tell you I am CERTAIN that we are going to have a great year and will be creating many MEMORIES!
I have created a zoom meeting for the students this Sunday August 30th at 6:30pm. It is going to be a great way to break the back to school ice and allow the students to see their classmates. PLEASE no pressure! If your child does not want to be on don't worry. This zoom is for the kids to just check things out. I am fine if a child is sitting out of view and just watching and listening. I am aware they are 4 and everyone has many feelings at this moment.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have thought of. If you would like to revisit the slideshow I have a tab "Parent Orientation".
God Bless-

Did we really reach mid August! I wasn't sure we would ever reach this point! I have to say I am so ready to fall back into a daily routine. Getting up in the morning with a purpose and the desire to be the BEST me!
I have been so busy preparing the classroom for the students. Everyday I go into the classroom I feel excitement and the joy of having a room filled with friends! I have researched and questioned many to create a safe environment for my class. I am confident this is going to be a year we will all remember; filled with fond memories!
Please be aware of the calendar above. This year I will be holding zoom orientation for parents and students. The Parent Orientation will cover the classroom procedures and routines. I will have a morning and evening zoom option. If you are unable to make either I will provide my presentation on the tab labeled Parent Orientation. Please bring your questions with you, I will be happy to answer any concerns you may have.
The student zoom is for the students to see me. I am aware zoom is not ideal for 4 year olds! I do not expcet your child to sit in a chair and just stare at the screen perfect. My first zoom with the students will discuss characters/people that they know that wear masks; bat man, teenage mutant turtles, fireman/woman, nurse. Students are invited to bring a picture or toy of a person or character wearing a mask. If you have a mask or your child has a mask bring it to zoom. The goal of this meeting is to understand that we are still the same person with a mask on just like some of our heros! This will be a light and fun activity. I hope for many giggles and lots of smiles.
Lastly, meeting the teacher and classroom will be a little different this year. The office will send an email with the date that your family may view your child/children classrooms. Feel free when you stop by to drop off your child's supplies. There will be a little surprise waiting for each child at there table! Enjoy this time!
I can't wait to see you all! God Bless-
