In only three short days, the KC Crew have formed new friendships, learned a whole new set of classroom and school rules, worked on writing letters, numbers, names and math skills.
Each morning we arrive at school with daily work to complete at our desks before morning Prayers and the Pledge of Allegiance. The children are entering the room each morning eager to get to work and ready to begin the day. They are quickly learning the daily routine and rules of the classroom/school. We are blessed to have Mrs.Cathy Shields, an experienced SJB assistant and school mom in our classroom as well as Ms. Ali Koval, our Spanish teacher, working with our class every afternoon. Miss Marilyn from Eagles Club helps us out in the afternoons as well. So far this week we have toured the outside of our beautiful campus, participated in two mini-yoga sessions (ask your child how to do "tree pose"), worked on letters, numbers, writing words, building shapes and spatial relationships with Geoboards and tangram shapes and read lots of books. "The Recess Queen", "Lucy Wears A Mask" and "Pete the Cat" and "The Kissing Hand" were some of the children's favorites of the week. We learned about Jesus and how he spread the good news of kindness and love to others. Next Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm is "Back to School Night" on Zoom. The curriculum will be discussed as well as expectations for the school year. A Google Slides presentation will be available to all following the meeting for future reference. ZOOM INVITES will be posted this weekend. Thank you for sharing your beautiful children with me!!
Backpack - labeled with name
Lunch box - labeled with name
*your child needs two napkins in their lunchbox everyday. Please pack straws, forks, spoons, if necessary.
**snack should be packed in a Ziploc or paper bag and labeled "snack".
*** Please pack a water bottle for your child everyday. We can refill at our classroom sink. We have a new PUR water filter on the faucet.
Towel for rest time & outside time (no blankets, please)
*the towel will remain in your child's backpack, so a bath size towel is recommended.
EAGLES CLUB:
If your child is attending Eagles Club after school, please pack a separate snack and drink (or water bottle), labeled Eagles Club. Please keep this snack separate from the lunch box. It will stay in your child's backpack until after school.
TOYS FOR EAGLES CLUB:
Eagles Club staff encourages your child to pack a labeled, Ziploc bag of little toys for play time. Again, this bag should fit nicely in your child's backpack.
EAGLES CLUB PICKUP:
Parents/Guardians picking up children at Eagles Club in the EC Building need to stay outside. There will be a sign-out sheet and a staff member will retrieve your child and bring him or her to you at the EC outside double doors.
Mrs. Pelillo will be posting a reading of "The Night Before Kindergarten" on her YouTube page, "Story Time with Miss Christine" this coming Monday, September 7th by 6 pm.
Mrs. Pelillo is healthy and ready for a great school year!
ZOOM HIGHLIGHTS:
Morning Drop Off:
7:20-7:35 am to the EC Building Outside Door
No parents in the building. A staff member will assist your child to the classroom.
After the second week of school, any late arrivals (after 7:35 am) will need to park in the FRONT school parking lot and walk their child to the front office & receive a late slip from Mrs. Diane Tobin.
BACKPACKS:
Pencil case
(the pencil case will stay in school for dailyl use)
Towel:
a towel that will fit in your child's backpack. The towel will be used for rest time (we are resting with heads on the desk this year) and for outside. It will stay in the backpack and go back & forth each day between home & school. Please wash at least once a week.
FOLDERS:
The folder is an essential part of your child's school success. The folders will go back & forth between home & school and will contain your child's homework, work from the school day, and any forms or news from school. The best way to communicate with me about early dismissals, different dismissal pick ups or any other pertinent information is through the folder. The folders are emptied by 8 am and a notification is sent to the office regarding early dismissals,...
If there is a change in plans that develop during the school day regarding pick-up, please call the main office to let them know and send me a quick email. We want everyone to be in communication regarding the plans for your child's dismissal.
LUNCH & SNACKS:
Please pack a full lunch as well as a snack, packed separately in a ziploc or paper bag, inside your child's lunchbox. The snack bag should be clearly labeled "snack", so it is easy for your child to retrieve and so that they don't eat their lunch. Please have a full water bottle for your child and an extra water bottle, if your child drinks a lot, to keep in their cubby. Also, we have a new water filtration system in place at our classroom sink to refill water bottles. A small juice box is fine for meals as well.
MASKS:
We are asking for two masks to be sent to school each day. One to be worn and the other, placed in a ziploc bag in your child's backpack, to replace if your child sneezes or coughs into the mask they are wearing. Dirty masks will be sent home in the backpack labeled "dirty".
DISMISSALS:
Dismissal for Kindergarten is at 2:40 pm. Eagles Club kids will stay in the EC Building.
Limestone Road and Walkers will go with Mrs. Pogonyi (KB teacher) to the back parking lot (next to the playground climbers) and Milltown Road dismissals will walk with me to the front of the school.
LATE PICK UPS:
If a parent or guardian is running late at pick up time/after car line begins, please don't worry. Late pick ups will come to the EC Building and join the after care program, Eagles Club, until a parent arrives.
EAGLES CLUB PICK UP:
New policy with Eagles Club pickup: Parent or guardian will sign his or her child out at the EC Building door and remain outside. A staff person will retrieve the child and deliver the child to the EC Building front door.
UPDATE REGARDING LOVIES/STUFFED ANIMALS AT REST TIME
I double checked with administration and was told that we cannot have stuffed animals/lovies in school at this time. Some suggestions:
a picture of your child's favorite lovie/animal
a drawing of the lovie or stuffed animal
This policy is in place to help keep extra germs out. Thank you for understanding.
Welcome to ZOOM Day!
Today's ZOOM meetings will cover:
Arrival & Dismissal procedures
1st day of school procedures
Backpacks

Some ZOOM info:
To ward off hackers, each Zoom session will be locked 5 minutes after the starting time.
I was experiencing some IT issues with sound, so I'm hoping that has been resolved internally.

Thank you!

Welcome to Mrs. Pelillo's KC Kindergarten!
I am so excited to be your teacher this year and I am looking forward to a year full of fun and learning together.
I look forward to meeting everyone during Classroom Visit Week.
Blessings!
I am busy working to make this school year a great one, especially as we navigate around our new (hopefully temporary) way of life. If next week's classroom visitation does not work for your family, please don't worry. I will be hosting two Zoom sessions this Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon, where you can ask questions and receive more information about the logistics of the classroom and school. More information on Zoom invites will be published on Monday and every family will receive a personal invitation via email.
For those stopping in for a classroom visit, please remember to bring with you:
*decorated paper t-shirt
*Questionnaire
*crayons and any other supplies
Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 8th, and it is a full day.
Please send in:
*a morning snack
*full water bottle
*full lunch for your child
(a second water bottle is recommended as the school is waiting on a new water filter system. As soon as the new system is in place, I will send out a message).
If your child is attending EAGLES CLUB, please pack an extra snack and water bottle for after school, separate from the lunchbox.
Kindergarten teachers are requesting a rest towel, which we will be using to enjoy outdoor class activities at healthy distances.
ZOOM MEETINGS THIS TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY:
It is only necessary to attend one Zoom session, as the same information will be covered in both sessions. Expectations of the meeting:
*Teacher introduction
*Information for the beginning of the school year
*Questions
The Second Week of School there will be a ZOOM BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT for all parents. That night will include a lot more information regarding plans for the whole Kindergarten year.
I have been working hard, along with my Kindergarten colleagues, to get this school year started on a happy and healthy note and I'm so excited to meet my new friends!
**Please wear your name tag necklace for the first two weeks of school**
See you Soon!
